Along with our regular 1 st fall meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Parlor Room, we will also have with us Presvytera Calypso Lee Karahalios. Presvytera Lee will be our guest speaker starting at 7:00 p.m. I am honored to have Presvytera Lee speak on the topic of The Power of Hope, Faith, Love. Presvytera Lee resides in Chestnut Hill, MA and is the wife of the late Rev. Dr. George Karahalios who taught Philosophy at Hellenic College/Holy Cross and led Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Lawrence, MA in 1971 for 20 years until the Church purchased land in Andover and the new Church held its Thyranixia Services in Presvytera Lee, a dedicated member of Philoptochos, chaired the publication of 3 Greek Palette cookbooks for the Myrofori Chapter which were successful fundraisers. She also wrote The Lenten Collection cookbook as a fundraiser for the Metropolis of Boston and is working on her new cookbook, The Calypso Collection. All of her renowned collections are personal and family favorites. Program will start at 7:00 p.m. in the Rev. Andrew Demotses Educational Center, and will include buffet/coffee/dessert. The reading is from St. Paul's Letter to the Galatians 6: Brethren, see with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh that would compel you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. For even those who receive circumcision do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may glory in your flesh. But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him." CEMETERY VISITS Due to the number of sacraments, 40 day blessings and memorials on Sundays it is difficult to make cemetery visits on Sundays after liturgy. If you would like a Trisagion at the graveside during the week you are kindly asked to make an appointment by calling the church office. HOSPITAL VISITS Due to HIPAA privacy rules, hospitals no longer provide a list of Orthodox patients to us. Therefore, if you or a loved one are, or will be, in the hospital, please contact the church office for a pastoral visit. Also, please notify the office if a friend or family member is in a rehab center, nursing home, assisted living facility or under hospice care. WELCOME TO OUR VISITORS Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly, the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives, only Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church.
