ΜΟΝΕΜΒΑΣΙΑ Η πόλη του ονείρου Η Μονεμβασιά είναι μία γραφική μικρή πόλη της ανατολικής Πελοποννήσου. Είναι κτισμένη πάνω σε ένα μεγάλο βράχο στη μέση της θάλασσας. Η πόλη περιτριγυρίζεται από μεσαιωνικά τείχη και έχει μόνο μία είσοδο. Γι αυτό και ονομάζεται Μονεμβασιά. Οι επισκέπτες έχουν την ευκαιρία να απολαύσουν αυτά που έχουν διατηρηθεί ή έχουν ξανακτιστεί, όπως διάφορα μεσαιωνικά κτίρια, τείχη, αρχοντικά σπίτια, το αρχαιολογικό μουσείο και αρκετές βυζαντινές εκκλησίες. Έτσι, μαθαίνουν για την πλούσια ιστορία του χώρου και της γύρω περιοχής από τα βυζαντινά χρόνια μέχρι και σήμερα. Πολλοί λένε ότι αισθάνονται μία μεγάλη μαγεία όταν περνούν την πύλη του Κάστρου της Μονεμβασιάς. Η πόλη σε μεταφέρει σε παλιές εποχές και σε κάνει να ξεχνάς την καθημερινή ρουτίνα της ζωής. Το κάστρο προσφέρει στους επισκέπτες απολαυστικούς περιπάτους μέσα από τα στενά δρομάκια που οδηγούν στο πάνω μέρος του κάστρου και τα καλά σχεδιασμένα τείχη. Από εκεί οι επισκέπτες μπορούν να απολαύσουν το τοπίο, την αρχιτεκτονική της Μονεμβασιάς και τις απέραντες θαλάσσιες ομορφιές που ορθώνονται σαν πίνακες ζωγραφικής. Στα πλακόστρωτα στενά της πόλης υπάρχουν μαγαζιά που πωλούν παραδοσιακά προϊόντα όπως το περίφημο κρασί «Μαλβαζία». Το κρασί αυτό αναφέρεται ακόμη και στα θεατρικά έργα του γνωστού Άγγλου συγγραφέα Σαίξπηρ. Εκτός από τα αξιοθέατα, την ιστορική περιπλάνηση και τα θαλασσινά μπάνια, στις 23 Ιουλίου οι τουρίστες μπορούν να παρακολουθήσουν τη φαντασμαγορική θαλάσσια γιορτή για την απελευθέρωση της Μονεμβασιάς. Ο ουρανός και η θάλασσα φωτίζονται από χιλιάδες πυροτεχνήματα, ενώ το παραδοσιακό γλέντι κρατάει μέχρι τις πρωινές ώρες. Μία άλλη περίοδος που προσελκύει πολλούς επισκέπτες στη Μονεμβασιά είναι οι μέρες του Πάσχα. Τότε η ανοιξιάτικη φύση κάνει το χώρο μαγευτικό. Πολλοί μάλιστα κάνουν τάμα να γιορτάσουν αυτές τις άγιες μέρες στη Μονεμβασιά και ιδιαίτερα στην κεντρική εκκλησία της πόλης. Άλλοι επίσης πηγαίνουν να τιμήσουν το μεγάλο Έλληνα ποιητή Γιάννη Ρίτσο που γεννήθηκε στη Μονεμβασιά και έγραψε πολλά έργα του εκεί. Η Μονεμβασιά είναι ένα από τα ωραιότερα στολίδια της Ελλάδας και ένας τόπος γεμάτος ιστορία και πολιτισμό. Σαν μία μηχανή του χρόνου, η Μονεμβασιά μεταφέρει τους χιλιάδες επισκέπτες από το σήμερα στο χθες και γαληνεύει την ψυχή τους! SECTION 2 Part A continued

ΤΟ ΜΕΛΛΟΝ ΤΩΝ ΒΙΒΛΙΩΝ Οι πωλήσεις των ηλεκτρονικών βιβλίων όλο και αυξάνονται, ενώ τα βιβλιοπωλεία λιγοστεύουν ή κλείνουν. Τα παραδοσιακά έντυπα βιβλία είναι ακριβά, πολλές φορές είναι βαριά, πιάνουν πολύ χώρο στις βιβλιοθήκες και με την πάροδο του χρόνου φθείρονται. Γι αυτό οι βιβλιοθήκες δε διαθέτουν πολλά αντίγραφα του ίδιου βιβλίου για τους αναγνώστες. Τα έντυπα βιβλία δεν είναι άμεσα διαθέσιμα γιατί χρειάζεται να τα αγοράσεις από κατάστημα ή να τα παραγγείλεις ταχυδρομικά. Επίσης, κάποια έντυπα βιβλία έχουν πολύ μικρά γράμματα και είναι δύσκολα στην ανάγνωση. Όταν ταξιδεύει κανείς δεν μπορεί να πάρει μαζί του πολλά έντυπα βιβλία για να διαβάσει και έτσι οι επιλογές του περιορίζονται. SECTION 2 Part B continued
