O good Lady, we implore you, quickly come unto our aid, when we cry out to you with faith. Hurry to intercession, and hasten to supplication, O Theotokos who protect now and ever those who honor you. Epistle Reading: St. Paul's First Letter to the Corinthians 1:10-17 Brethren, I appeal to you by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment. For it has been reported to me by Chloe's people that there is quarreling among you, my brethren. What I mean is that each one of you says, "I belong to Paul," or "I belong to Apollos," or "I belong to Cephas," or "I belong to Christ." Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispos and Gaius; lest any one should say that you were baptized in my name. know whether I baptized any one else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel, and not with eloquent wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. Gospel Reading: Matthew 14:14-22 At that time, Jesus saw a great throng; and He had compassion on them, and healed their sick. When it was evening, the disciples came to Him and said, "This is a lonely place, and the day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves." Jesus said, "They need not go away; you give them something to eat." They said to Him, "We have only five loaves here and two fish." And He said, "Bring them here to Me." Then He ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass; and taking the five loaves and the two fish He looked up to heaven, and blessed, and broke and gave the loaves to the crowds. And they all ate and were satisfied. And they took up twelve baskets full of the broken pieces left over. And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children. Then He made the disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds. 7 Tomorrow s Dawn: Carried away in the night, you had made your final goodbyes. Currently in the forefront of our minds, your presence still lingers at our sides. Yet, our love for you shall forever bide- A selfless love is a limitless love knowing not the concept of time. With such a love forever binding us, your legacy lives on: Neither death, nor time can part such a bond. Carried on immortally in the beat of our hearts, you are never truly gone. Yet for now, we shall temporarily part with tomorrow s dawn. When the sun of tomorrow arises, Tears we shall not shed while we gaze upon the horizon. Tomorrow s dawn brings a bitter-sweet beauty that must be recognized, Rising for us as a reminder to find peace within the beautiful things in life. Never again shall the wind blow, without you being in the breeze. Never again shall the warmth of the sun be welcomed, without your embrace being the remembered feeling. Never again will the oceans gleam, without being reminded of your beautiful eyes of green. Forever changed is our perspective lens: capturing reminders of you reminders surrounding us subtly. Although at times eliciting lunacy, determined you always were. Showcasing the eminent allure of your exuberant character, Incessantly, you inspirited us to be a soul that yearned Towards fulfilling and living our best lives; this you unwaveringly honored. Unmistakable now is the reason why A remarkable essence remains as your footprint left behind: Each and every person you blessed with your presence in their life Now carries a permanent impression in which cannot be denied. Never once did you stand as less than a queen. Having written your place into our history, You departed us readily, For you knew Heaven was to be found at the end of your journey. Home was filled with the love and happiness you had brought: Family is forever that shall never be forgot. We love you to the moon and back Yaya, Now you are to be truly home finally at peace with Pa. **This poem was written by Ms Kay s granddaughter in loving memory of her YiaYia.

The Blessing of the Five Loaves is sponsored by Father Frank and Family in honor of St. Markella, the Patron Saint of Chios, Greece and for the health of the Family. Saint Markella: On the Northwest coast of Chios, close to the village of Volissos, is the Monastery of Saint Markella, the 16 th century maiden, murdered by her demented agnostic father. Markella devoted herself to the service of Christ. The signs of her martyrdom are still discernible and many miracles of healing have been recorded. Her memory is celebrated on July 22 nd attracting crowds of faithful from all over Greece. Thousands of faithful take part in the procession and litany of the Holy icon. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Frank will anoint the faithful with the Holy Water from the Shrine of St. Markella. HELLENIC FOLK DANCERS Special thanks to all of our youth who gathered for our Hellenic Dance Get Together on Tuesday the 17th- and also, to Angela Babroski for sharing with us some of the dances from Northern Greece. We are planning a workshop for the first weekend of August. Details to follow.

On August 15th, Orthodox Christians celebrate the Dormition (Falling Asleep) of the Virgin Mary. She was the birth-giver of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the Church reverently remembers every occurrence of her blessed life. In preparation for the celebration of the feast day of the Dormition, the church invites all to participate in a two-week period of renewal. The Church suggests that we eat lightly, that we fast totally from meat, and seek spiritual renewal and discipline our total person, physically and spiritually. During the Dekapentavgousto- The fifteen day period the faithful are urged to prepare for Holy Communion and to attend the prayer servies- Paraklesis Services to the Theotokos. We are granted the opportunity to do something good, to strengthen family ties, to forgive and seek forgiveness, to pray and assist the less fortunate and to give thanks for all that we are and all that we have. Remember...all great gifts are from above. May your journey bring you closer to a Christ-centered life. HOSPITAL AND SHUT-INS VISITATIONS If a loved one is in the hospital, a nursing home, or homebound, please have a family member contact the office so a visit can be arranged. Hospitals no longer provide patient lists. Unless you request that a priest visits, arrangements cannot be made. ALL FAITH S FOOD BANK Please continue to support our Food Bank. Your donations of nonperishable food items do make a difference in the lives of others. Please place your donations in the All Faiths Food Bank container in our Parish Hall. Thank You! For your support. ITEMS FOR YIA YIA S ATTIC We would like to ask everyone that has items to donate to Yia Yia s attic, to please wait until November to bring them in. We don t have the space to store them and we need to keep the doors clear to keep the Fire Marshal happy. Thank You! CHURCH OFFICE HOURS The Church Office hours are Monday Friday from 9am 5pm with lunch from 1pm 2pm.

Life of the Saint ( July 26 ) Saint Paraskevi, who was from a certain village near Rome, was born to pious parents, Agatho and Politia. Since she was born on a Friday (in Greek, Paraskevi), she was given this name, which means "preparation" or "preparedness" (compare Matthew 27:62, Mark 15:42, Luke 23:54, and John 19:31, where 'Friday' is called "the day of the preparation"). From childhood she was instructed in the sacred letters and devoted herself to the study of the divine Scriptures, while leading a monastic life and guiding many to the Faith of Christ. During the reign of the Emperor Antoninus Pius, she was apprehended because she was a Christian and was urged to worship the idols, but she answered with the words of Jeremias: "Let the gods that have not made heaven and the earth perish from off the earth" (Jeremiah 10:11). Because of this she endured exceedingly painful torments, and was beheaded in the year 140. The faithful pray to her for the healing of eye ailments.

Life of Saint Panteleimon, ( July 27 ) This Saint, who had Nicomedia as his homeland, was the son of Eustorgius and Eubula. His father was an idolater, but his mother was a Christian from her ancestors. It was through her that he was instructed in piety, and still later, he was catechized in the Faith of Christ by Saint Hermolaus (see July 26) and baptized by him. Being proficient in the physician's vocation, he practiced it in a philanthropic manner, healing every illness more by the grace of Christ than by medicines. Thus, although his parents had named him Pantoleon ("in all things a lion"), because of the compassion he showed for the souls and bodies of all, he was worthily renamed Panteleimon, meaning "all-merciful." On one occasion, when he restored the sight of a certain blind man by calling on the Divine Name, he enlightened also the eyes of this man's soul to the knowledge of the truth. This also became the cause for the martyrdom of him who had been blind, since when he was asked by whom and in what manner his eyes had been opened, in imitation of that blind man of the Gospel he confessed with boldness both who the physician was and the manner of his healing. For this he was put to death immediately. Panteleimon was arrested also, and having endured many wounds, he was finally beheaded in the year 305, during the reign of Maximian. Saint Panteleimon is one of the Holy Unmercenaries, and is held in special honor among them, even as Saint George is among the Martyrs.
