EMMANUEL DRITSAS DEAN PARISH COUNCIL PRESIDENT WWW.SAINTDEMETRIOSASTORIA.COM ΚΥΡΙΑΚΗ 25 ΣΕΠΤΕΜΒΡΙΟΥ 2016 Αγαπητοί Ενορίτες, Κυριακή Α' Λουκά Με την εορτή του Τιμίου Σταυρού τελειώνουμε τη ανάγνωση περικοπών από το Ευαγγέλιο του Ευαγγελιστού Ματθαίου και αρχίζουμε την ανάγνωση περικοπών από το Ευαγγέλιο του Αγίου και Ευαγγελιστού Λουκά. Στην πρώτη Ευαγγελική περικοπή εμφανίζεται ο Κύριος να πλησιάζει την λίμνη Γεννησαρέτ για να επιλέξει του Αποστόλους του. Εκεί πλησιάζει τον Σίμωνα Πέτρο και τους δύο υιούς Ζεβεδαίου, τον Ιάκωβο και τον Ιωάννη. Δε χρειάσθηκε πολύ ώρα για να καταλάβουν πως ο Ιησούς Χριστός ήταν πράγματι ο Μεσσίας και ήταν Αυτός που είχαν προφητεύσει οι Γραφές της Παλαιάς Διαθήκης. Δέχτηκαν το κάλεσμα του Κυρίου και όπως αναφέρει ο Ευαγγελιστής, "ἀφέντες ἄπαντα ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῶ"(λκ. 5:11). Το κάλεσμα του Κυρίου δεν απευθύνεται μόνο στους Αποστόλους αλλά σε όλους τους ανθρώπους και σε κάθε εποχή. Το κάλεσμα είναι διαχρονικό και εξαρτάται από το κάθε άνθρωπο εάν θα γίνει αποδέκτης του. Μπορεί να αναρωτιέστε με ποιό τρόπο έρχεται το κάλεσμα από το Θεό αφού δεν έχουμε τον Ιησού Χριστό στις μέρες μας. Έχοντας πίστη στον Θεό πρέπει να θεωρούμε πως ο Ιησούς Χριστός είναι κοντά μας δια μέσου της Εκκλησίας και μας έχει αφήσει παρακαταθήκη το Ευαγγέλιο με το οποίο μας καθοδηγεί στο δρόμο του Θεού. Έχουμε μαρτυρίες από την πρώτη στιγμή πως η σωτηρία μας επέρχεται δια μέσου της συμμετοχής μας στο Σώμα και το Αίμα του Κυρίου ημών Ιησού Χριστού, που πραγματοποιείται σε κάθε Θεία Λειτουργία που τελείται στους Ιερούς Ναούς. Πολλοί Χριστιανοί βρίσκουν δικαιολογία πως δεν είναι απαραίτητο να πάνε στην Εκκλησία για προσευχηθούν και να έχουν επικοινωνία με το Θεό. Αυτές οι σκέψεις είναι εκ του πονηρού, διότι, ναι μεν κάθε ώρα και στιγμή έχουμε την δυνατότητα να προσευχηθούμε και πρέπει να προσευχόμαστε, όμως άλλη είναι η προσωπική προσευχή και άλλη μέσα στην Εκκλησία. Μπορεί ο κάθε άνθρωπος να τελέσει μυστήρια στο σπίτι του ή να τελέσει Θεία Λειτουργία; Όχι!!! Ο άγιος Ιωάννης ο Χρυσόστομος, ο μεγάλος θεολόγος της Εκκλησίας μας,

αναφέρει: "Μή γάρ τοῦτο ἴδης ὅτι ἐν γῆ ἕστηκεν ἡ ἐκκλησία, ἀλλ' ὅτι ἐν οὐρανῶ πολιτεύεται"(επε 8Α, 388). Ο σκοπός της Εκκλησίας είναι να μας καθαγιάσει δια μέσου των μυστηρίων και να μας συνδέσει με τον Ουρανό. Αδελφοί μου, τίποτε δεν μπορούμε να καταφέρουμε χωρίς τη βοήθεια του Θεού και τη κιβωτό Χάριτος της Εκκλησίας. Όταν αναγνωρίσουμε πόσο ανάγκη έχουμε να βρισκόμαστε μέσα στην Εκκλησία, τότε θα αρχίσουμε να ανεβαίνουμε πνευματικά. Ο εκκλησιασμός είναι η αρχή και όταν βρεθούμε εκεί, αποκτούμε δυνάμεις για να ενισχυθεί η πίστη μας και να κατανοήσουμε πως δεν μπορούμε να το καταφέρουμε μόνοι μας. Μόνο μέσα στον Ιερό Ναό η προσευχή μας γίνεται πιο δυνατή γιατί ενώνεται με τις προσευχές των άλλων και όλοι μαζί ενισχυόμαστε πνευματικά. Πηγαίνοντας στην Εκκλησία δείχνουμε έμπρακτα στο Θεό τη θέληση μας να αφιερώσουμε χρόνο στο Θεό. Όπως μας προτρέπει ο ψαλμωδός, "ἐν ἐκκλησίαις εὐλογεῖτε τόν Θεόν". ΑΜΗΝ Αρχιμ. And he saw two boats by the lake; but the fishermen had gone out of them and were washing their nets. Getting into one of the boats, which was Simon's, he asked him to put out a little from the land. And he sat down and taught the people from the boat. And when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch." And Simon answered, "Master, we toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets." And when they had done this, they enclosed a great shoal of fish; and as their nets were breaking, they beckoned to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. But when Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord." For he was astonished, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. REGISTRATION FEE: $20.00 September 26 -The Falling Asleep of St. John the Evangelist and Theologian - this Apostle was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and was the son of Zebedee and Salome, and the brother of James the elder. First a fisherman by trade, he became an Apostle and the beloved Disciple of Christ. Only he of all the Disciples followed Him even to the Cross, and was entrusted with the care of our Savior's Mother, as it were another son to her, and a brother of Christ the Teacher. After this, he preached throughout Asia Minor, especially in Ephesus. When the second persecution against the Christians began in the year 96 during the reign of Domitian, he was taken in bonds to Rome, and there was cast into a vat filled to the brim with boiling oil. Coming forth therefrom unharmed, he was exiled to the island of Patmos, where he wrote the Book of Revelation. Returning again to Ephesus after the death of the tyrant, he wrote his Gospel (after the other Evangelists had already written theirs) and his three Catholic Epistles. In all, he lived ninety-five years and fell asleep in the Lord during the reign of Trajan in the year 100. He was called Theologian because he loftily expounded in his Gospel the theology of the inexpressible and eternal birth of the Son and Word of God the Father. It is for this cause that an eagle-a symbol of the Holy Spirit, as Saint Irenaeus says-is depicted in his icon, for this was one of the four symbolic living creatures that the Prophet Ezekiel saw (Ezek. 1:10). September 30 - Gregory the Illuminator, Bishop of Armenia - This Saint, a Parthian by race, was the son of Anak. He was born about the year 240 and was taught the Faith of Christ in Caesarea of Cappadocia. He entered the service of Tiridates, King of Armenia, but when discovered to be a Christian, he was subjected to many horrible torments at the King's hands, then was cast into a pit of mire with poisonous serpents and left to die. By the power of God, however, he abode there unharmed for fourteen years, his needs provided by a certain widow, until he was made known by revelation and set free. He converted to piety innumerable multitudes of Armenians, including

Tiridates himself, and was consecrated bishop by Leontius, Archbishop of Caesarea, to shepherd the vast flock he had gained for Christ. He spent the last part of his life in retirement in the ascetical discipline, and reposed in peace about the year 325. Saint Gregory is honored as the Illuminator of Armenia. October 1 - The Holy Protection of the Theotokos - The Feast of the Protection commemorates the appearance of the most holy Theotokos in the Church of Blachernae in Constantinople in the early sixth century, as recorded in the life of Saint Andrew the Fool for Christ's sake. While the multitudes of the faithful were gathered in church, Epiphanius, the friend of Saint Andrew, through the Saint's prayers, beheld the Virgin Mary above the faithful and spreading out her veil over them, signifying her unceasing protection of all Christians. Because of this we keep a yearly feast of gratitude, imploring our Lady never to cease sheltering us in her mighty prayers. In the Greek tradition, this feast is celebrated on October 28, while in the Slavic tradition, this feast is celebrated on October 1. October 1 - Μνήμη Ἁγίας Σκέπης τῆς Ὑπεραγίας Θεοτόκου ἐν Βλαχερνῷ- Διαβάζουμε: «Τῇ αὕτῃ ἡμέρᾳ τὴν ἀνάμνησιν ποιούμεθα τῆς Ἁγίας Σκέπης τῆς Ὑπεραγίας Δεσποίνης ἡμῶν Θεοτόκου καὶ Ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας ἤτοι τοῦ ἱεροῦ αὐτῆς Μαφορίου, τοῦ ἐν τῷ σορῷ τοῦ Ἱεροῦ Ναοῦ τῶν Βλαχερνῶν, ὄτε ὁ Ὅσιος Ἀνδρέας ὁ διὰ Χριστὸν σαλὸς κατεῖδεν ἐφηπλωμένην αὐτὴν ἄνωθεν καὶ πάντας τοὺς εὐσεβεῖς περισκέπουσαν». Λόγω τῶν πολλῶν θαυμάτων ἀπὸ τὴν Παναγία, ποὺ ἀνέφεραν οἱ Ἕλληνες στρατιῶτες στὸν Ἑλληνοϊταλικὸ πόλεμο τὸ 1940, ἡ Ἱερὰ Συνοδὸς τῆς Ἐκκλησίας τῆς Ἑλλάδος μὲ ἀπόφασή της τὸ 1952, καθιέρωσε νὰ ἑορτάζεται ἡ Ἅγια Σκέπη τῆς Θεοτόκου ἀντὶ γιὰ τὴν 1 η Ὀκτωβρίου, στὶς 28 Ὀκτωβρίου. Ἡ ἑορτὴ τῆς Ἅγιας Σκέπης τῆς Θεοτόκου ἡ ὁποία τελοῦνταν ἀπὸ παλαιότατων χρόνων τὴν 1 η Ὀκτωβρίου, ἦταν ἀνάμνηση τοῦ θαύματος τὸ ὁποῖο εἶδε ὁ Ὅσιος Ἀνδρέας. Κατὰ τὴ διάρκεια μιᾶς ἀγρυπνίας στὸ παρεκκλήσι τῆς «Ἅγιας Σοροῦ» τοῦ ναοῦ τῶν Βλαχερνῶν στὴν Κωνσταντινούπολη, ὁ Ὅσιος Ἀνδρέας εἶδε τὴν Θεοτόκο νὰ προχωράει ἀπὸ τὶς βασιλικὲς πύλες πρὸς τὸ θυσιαστήριο ἀνάμεσα σὲ λευκοφορους ἅγιους, ἀπὸ τοὺς ὁποίους ξεχώριζαν ὁ Ἅγιος Ἰωάννης ὁ Πρόδρομος καὶ ὁ Ἅγιος Ἰωάννης ὁ Θεολόγος. Ὅταν ἔφθασε στὸ θυσιαστήριο γονάτισε καὶ προσευχόταν γιὰ πολλὴ ὥρα, κλαίγοντας καὶ παρακάλωντας τὸν Υἱό της γιὰ τὴν σωτήρια του κόσμου. Ὅταν ὁλοκλήρωσε τὴν δέησή της, ἔβγαλε ἀπὸ τὸ κεφάλι της τὸ ἀστραφτερὸ μαφόριο, ποὺ φοροῦσε καὶ μὲ μία κινήση τὸ ἅπλωσε σὰν σκεπὴ ἐπάνω ἀπὸ τὸ ἐκκλησίασμα. Ἔτσι ἁπλωμένο τὸ ἔβλεπε γιὰ ἀρκετὴ ὥρα ὁ Ὅσιος Ἀνδρέας μαζὶ μὲ τὸν Ἐπιφανιο, ποὺ τὸν συνόδευε. Ὅσο φαινόταν ἐκεῖ ἡ Θεοτόκος, φαινόταν καὶ ἡ ἱερὴ ἐσθήτα νὰ σκορπίζει τὴ Χάρη της. Ὅταν ἐκείνη ἄρχισε νὰ ἀνεβαίνει πρὸς τὸν οὐρανό, ἄρχισε καὶ ἡ Θεία Σκέπη νὰ συστέλλεται καὶ σιγὰ σιγὰ νὰ χάνεται. Τὸ ἱερὸ αὐτὸ μαφόριο ποὺ φυλασσόταν ἐκεῖ συμβόλιζε τὴν Χάρη καὶ τὴν προστασία ποὺ παρέχει ἡ Παναγία στοὺς πιστοὺς.
