Potential Use in Greece 1/2 Complementary to the existing legal framework for EIA studies related to coastal protection works and plans Tool for engineers for the preparation of the EIA studies For the controlling authorities : Ministry, Decentralized Authorities, Regions As prerequisite, in the tender documents, for the preparation of EIA studies
Potential Use in Greece 2/2 Use in preliminary stage Identification of works and habitat macro categories possible from non specialists Potential Impacts Identification of Potential Impacts with the use of the matrices Better preparation of the tender documents Better data collection In-depth study of these Impacts Use of the whole methodology for works and plans of category A1

Stakeholders Feedback In the Greek framework, need for more detailed guidelines for coastal works and plans so the EIA guidelines are welcomed Coastal works and plans have important Environmental Impacts and the approval of the EIA studies take 3 years and more because many services are involved Lack of specialized personnel for the approval of EIA studies Lack of the right tender documents for the EIA studies (scale and scope of the study etc.) Sediment evolution (erosion/accretion) due to coastal works is an important environmental effect and most of the times it is not studied, specially for ports Dams and river works have impacts on beach sediment and this is not studied as an environmental effect of these works
