Even though we have regained access to the front stairs, the Education Committee and the teachers have decided to continue using the rear entrance because it provides more safety for our students. As a safety procedure, cars will not be allowed in the rear of the church when children are entering and exiting. Please use the parking lots on the side of the church or in the front of the church. Other News The American College of Greece (ACG) is now accepting applications for Heritage Greece 2017, an educational and cultural program for Greek-American students of college age. Heritage Greece is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to explore Hellenic heritage, culture and identity with a peer group of students from the US and Greece. Heritage Greece was developed by the National Hellenic Society (NHS) as part of its mission to celebrate and preserve Hellenic heritage in the United States. It is hosted in Greece by The American College of Greece (ACG). Heritage Greece is the National Hellenic Society s contribution to keeping Hellenic heritage and identity vibrant and relevant. 2017 marks the eighth consecutive year that the Heritage Greece program will take place under the management of The American College of Greece (ACG). The program includes tailor-made educational and cultural activities that make for an intense immersion experience. These include insider s tours and screenings at the Benaki and Acropolis museums in Athens; private Greek dancing classes; visits to beautiful locales; tours of sites of archaeological and historical significance; visits to religious sites and monuments of the Byzantine period. These are combined with seminars, outings and activities with DEREE students to guarantee a unique experience of the participants ancestral land. This year, the Heritage Greece Program will run from June 8-25, 2017. This exciting educational program includes: 1. A first-hand experience of Hellenic heritage, traditions and culture 2. An experiential, customized one-credit language and culture course 3. Field trips and on-site teaching 4. Recreational and educational excursions 5. Modern, spacious housing at ACG 6. Tuition, meals and transportation while in Greece 7. Classroom materials Students will meet in Washington DC for Orientation on June 8, 2017 and depart for Greece as a group on June 10, accompanied by an ACG staff member. Participants bear a $1,000 portion of the airfare expense to Greece (the remaining cost is born by NHS) and are responsible for their transportation to and from Washington D.C. Expenses including tuition, accommodations, local transportation, meals, and related costs are borne by the National Hellenic Society. Saint Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 1:10-14; 2:1-3 You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us. Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed. "Lord, in the beginning, you did found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; they will perish, but you remain; they will all grow old like a garment, like a mantle you will roll them up, and they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will never end." But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make your enemies a stool for your feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation? Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him. Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"--he said to the paralytic--"i say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home." Φεστιβάλ 2017 Δευτέρα 13 Μαρτίου, στις 9π.µ., ελάτε να συνεχίσουµε µαζί τις προετοιµασίες για το φετινό Φεστιβάλ της εκκλησίας µας, µε τύλιγµα τυρόπιτων. Στηριζόµαστε στη βοήθειά σας. Εκδήλωση για µαθητές κολεγίου Το Αµερικανικό Κολέγιο της Ελλάδας, οργανώνει το Πρόγραµµα Πολιτιστικής Κληρονοµιάς 2017, όπου Ελληνο-Αµερικανοί µαθητές κολεγίου, µπορούν να λάβουν µέρος σε αυτή τη εκδήλωση και να ζήσουν από κοντά εµπειρίες πολιτιστικής ελληνικής κληρονοµιάς µαζί µε άλλους µαθητές από τη Αµερική και τη Ελλάδα. Αυτή θα είναι η 7 η χρονιά που γίνεται η εκδήλωση και ο σκοπός της είναι να διδάξει, να γιορτάσει και να προωθήσει τη διατήρηση της πολιτιστικής ελληνικής κληρονοµιάς. Στο προγραµµα αυτό οι µαθητές θα επισκεφτούν τα µουσεία της Ακρόπολης και του Μπενάκη, θα κάνουν µαθήµατα ελληνικού παραδοσιακού χορού, θα ξεναγήσουν τόπους αρχαιολογικούς, εκκλησίες και µέρη της Βυζαντινής περιόδου. Ηµέρες εκδήλωσης - από τις 8 Ιουνίου έως τις 25 Ιουνίου 2017. Στη εκδήλωση οι µαθητές θα έχουν τη ευκαιρία να ζήσουν ως εµπειρία τα ελληνικά πολιτιστικά ήθη και έθιµα, να ξεναγήσουν χώρους αρχαιολογικούς και πολιτιστικούς οπου θα διδαχθούν τη ανάλογη ιστορία του κάθε τόπου, θα παραµείνουν σε σύνχρονα συγκροτήµατα παραµονής του Αµερικανικού Κολεγίου Ελλάδας και θα συµπεριλαµβάνει τα δίδακτρα, φαγητό, όλα όσα χρειάζοντε για την κάθε τάξη, µεταφορά/ διακίνηση σε κάθε εκδήλωση. Οσοι µαθητές ενδιαφέροντε, µπορούν να υποβάλουν αίτηση έως τις 15 Μαρτίου, 2017. Το κόστος ανά µαθητή ανέρχεται στο ποσό των $1,000.00.
