Resurrectional Apolytikion in the 2nd Tone Hymns of the Day Απολυτίκιον Αναστάσιμον Ήχος β' When Thou didst descend unto death, O Life Immortal, then didst Thou slay Hades with the lightning of Thy Divinity. And when Thou didst also raise the dead out of the nethermost depths, all the powers in the Heavens cried out: O Life-giver, Christ our God, glory be to Thee. Apolytikion of the Martyrs in the Fourth Tone Thy Martyrs, O Lord, in their courageous contest for Thee received as the prize the crowns of incorruption and life from Thee, our immortal God. For since they possessed Thy strength, they cast down the tyrants and wholly destroyed the demons' strengthless presumption. O Christ God, by their prayers, save our souls, since Thou art merciful. Apolytikion of the Church in the Plagal of the Fourth Tone Blessed are You, O Christ our God, who made fishermen all-wise, sending upon them the Holy Spirit and, through them, netting the world. O Loving One, glory to You. Kontakion 2 nd Tone O Protection of Christians unshamable, mediation to our Holy Maker unwavering. Please reject not, the prayerful cries of those who are in sin. But hasten now for you are good. Your loving help bring unto us, who are crying in faith to you. Hasten to intercede and speed now to supplicate. As a protection for all time, Theotokos for those who honor you.
THE EPISTLE / Ο ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΣ St. Paul's Letter to the Philippians 1:8-14 Prokeimenon. Grave Mode. Psalm 63.11,1 The righteous shall rejoice in the Lord. Verse: Oh God, hear my cry. BRETHREN, God is my witness, how I yearn for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. I want you to know, brethren, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel, so that it has become known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to all the rest that my imprisonment is for Christ; and most of the brethren have been made confident in the Lord because of my imprisonment, and are much more bold to speak the word of God without fear. will produce thanksgiving to God.
THE HOLY GOSPEL / ΤΟ ΘΕΙΟΝ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ The Gospel of Luke 11:34-41 The Lord said, "Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound, your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound, your body is full of darkness. Therefore be careful lest the light in you be darkness. If then your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly bright, as when a lamp with its rays gives you light." While he was speaking, a Pharisee asked him to dine with him; so he went in and sat at table. The Pharisee was astonished to see that he did not first wash before dinner. And the Lord said to him, "Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of extortion and wickedness. You fools! Did not he who made the outside make the inside also? But give for alms those things which are within and behold, everything is clean for you."
