Brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand, therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the equipment of the gospel of peace; besides all these, taking the shield of faith, with which you can quench all the flaming darts of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. At that time, as Jesus drew near to Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging; and hearing a multitude going by, he inquired what this meant. They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." And he cried, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!" And those who were in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!" And Jesus stopped, and commanded him to be brought to him; and when he came near, he asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, let me receive my sight." And Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." And immediately he received his sight and followed him, glorifying God; and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.

4 Prophet Habakkuk2 December The Holy Prophet Habakkuk, the eighth of the Twelve Minor Prophets, was descended from the Tribe of Simeon, and he prophesied around 650 B.C. The Prophet Habakkuk foresaw the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple, the Babylonian Captivity and the later return of the captives to their native land. During the war with the Babylonians the prophet withdrew to Arabia, where the following miracle occurred. When he was bringing dinner to the reapers, he met an angel of the Lord, and instantly by the strength of his spirit he was transported to Babylon, where at Ὁ Προφήτης Ἀββακούμ Ὁ Ἀββακούμ, ποὺ τὸ ὄνομά του σημαίνει «θερμὸς ἐναγκαλισμός», ἦταν ἀπὸ τὴ φυλὴ τοῦ Συμεὼν καὶ γιὸς τοῦ Σαφάτ. Ὁ χρόνος ποὺ ἔδρασε τίθεται μεταξὺ 650 καὶ 672 π.χ. Στὸ προφητικό του βιβ ίο, ποὺ διακρίνεται γιὰ τὴν ἀξιό ογη λογοτεχνική του χάρη, ἐ έγχει τὸν ἰουδαϊκὸ λαό, ἐπειδὴ παρεξέκλινε ἀπὸ τὴν ἀ ηθινὴ θρησκεία στὴν εἰδωλολατρία. Νὰ τί συγκεκριμένα ἀναφέρει, σχετικὰ μὲ τὸ πῶς πρέπει κανεὶς νὰ πιστεύει στὸ Θεό: «Ἐὰν ὑποστεί ηται, οὐκ εὐδοκεῖ ἡ ψυχή μου ἐν αὐτῷ ὁ δὲ δίκαιος ἐκ πίστεώς μου ζήσεται. Ἐγὼ δὲ ἐν τῷ Κυρίῳ ἀγα ιάσομαι, χαρίσομαι ἐπὶ τῷ Θεῷ τῷ σωτήρι μου». Ποὺ σημαίνει, ἂν κανεὶς λιποψυχήσει καὶ ἀδημονήσει στὶς διάφορες δοκιμασίες, ἂς μάθει, λέει ὁ Κύριος, ὅτι δὲν ἐπαναπαύεται ἡ ψυχή μου σ αὐτόν. Ὁ δίκαιος ποὺ πιστεύει σ ἐμένα καὶ τηρεῖ τὸ Νόμο μου, θὰ σωθεῖ καὶ θὰ ζήσει. Ἐγὼ ὅμως, λέει ὁ the time the Prophet Daniel was languishing in prison. The food intended for the reapers assuaged the hunger of the exhausted Prophet Daniel (Dan. 14:33-37). After the end of the war with the Babylonians, the Prophet Habakkuk returned to his homeland and died at a great old age. His relics were found at the time of Emperor Theodosius he Younger ( ), together with the relics of the Prophet Micah (August 14). The Fourth Ode of the Psalter ( O Lord, I have heard thy report, and was afraid... ) is based on Habakkuk 3: Δεκεµβρίου Προφήτης, θὰ ἀγά ομαι ἐ πίζοντας στὸν Κύριο. Θὰ γεμίσει χαρὰ ἡ καρδιά μου γιὰ τὸν σωτήρα μου Θεό. Ὁ προφήτης Ἀββακοὺμ πέθανε εἰρηνικὰ καὶ τάφηκε στὸν τόπο τῶν πατέρων του. Ἀπολυτίκιον. Ἦχος δ. Ταχὺ προκατά αβε. Ὡς ὄρος προέγραψας, τὴν Θεοτόκον Ἁγνὴν, ἐξ ἧς ἡμῖν ἔ αμψεν, ὁ τῶν ἁπάντων Θεός, σαρκὸς ὁμοιώματι. Ὅθεν σε ὡς Προφήτην, θεηγόρον τιμῶντες, χάριτος οὐρανίου, μετασχεῖν δυσωποῦμεν, πρεσβείαις σου θεοδέκτοις, Ἀββακοὺμ ἔνδοξε. Κοντάκιον. Ἦχος πλ. δ. Τῇ ὑπερμάχῳ. Τῆς προφητείας τὴν κιθάραν τὴν θεόφθογγον Τὴν προηχήσασαν Χριστοῦ τὴν συγκατάβασιν Ἀββακοὺμ ἀνευφημήσωμεν τὸν Θεόπτην. Ἐμπνευσθεῖς γὰρ τῇ ἐ άμψει τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν Ἐμφανῶς προδιετύπωσε τὰ μέ οντα, Τούτῳ λέγοντες, χαῖρε σκεῦος τοῦ Πνεύματος.
