3 Μέζσ ηνπ Επξσπατθνύ πξνγξάκκαηνο Life Long Learning ηα ζπλεξγαδόκελα ζρνιεία, κε ζπληνληζηή ην ζρνιείν καο, αλάιαβαλ λα αλαπηύμνπλ ην Project Creating sustainable schools πνπ έρεη ζθνπό λα πξνσζήζεη ηελ αεηθόξν αλάπηπμε ζηα ζρνιεία. Έηζη ηα ζπλδεδεκέλα ζρνιεία ε Κύπξνο, ε Φηλιαλδία, ε Ειιάδα, ε Ιηαιία, ε Ιζπαλία, ε Πνξηνγαιία, ε Πνισλία ε Γαιιία θαη ε Ρνπκαλία έλσζαλ ηηο δπλάκεηο ηνπο θάλνληαο θνηλέο δξαζηεξηόηεηεο πνπ πξνσζνύλ ην ζηόρν πνπ έζεζαλ. Οη ηνκείο ζηνπο νπνίνπο επηθεληξώζεθαλ γηα θέηνο ήηαλ: α) ε αλαθύθισζε θαη ε ειάηησζε ησλ απνξξηκκάησλ θαη β) ε αλαδηακόξθσζε ηνπ ρώξνπ πνπ πεξηβάιιεη ην ζρνιείν. Δνύιεςαλ κε κεξάθη, απόθηεζαλ γλώζεηο, ζπλεξγάζηεθαλ, επηθνηλώλεζαλ ν έλαο κε ηνλ άιινλ, αληάιιαμαλ απόςεηο θαη εκπεηξίεο, αληάιιαμαλ επηζθέςεηο θαη έβαιαλ ηηο βάζεηο γηα ηε δεκηνπξγία ηεο λννηξνπίαο ηνπ πνιίηε ηνπ κέιινληνο. Ελόο πνιίηε πνπ ζέβεηαη ην πεξηβάιινλ, εξγάδεηαη γηα ηε βειηίσζή ηνπ θαη πξνζπαζεί λα επεξεάζεη πξνο απηή ηελ θαηεύζπλζε όζνπο κπνξεί. Χαηξεηίδσ ηελ έθδνζε ηεο ζπιινγήο ησλ παξακπζηώλ ησλ ζπλδεδεκέλσλ ζρνιείσλ, κε ζέκα ην πεξηβάιινλ θαη ππνζρόκαζηε λα ζπλερίζνπκε ηελ πξνζπάζεηα κε πεξηζζόηεξν ελζνπζηαζκό θαηά ην επόκελν ζρνιηθό έηνο. 4 THE NON-SUSTAINABLE MONSTERS Does someone open your leftover containers at nights and tip the rubbish everywhere? Have you realized that our water supply is being reduced day by day and what is left has been polluted? Have you been suffocated by air pollution and can't find clean air anywhere? Maybe the rain that falls is polluted, destroying everything it leaves behind? Do loud sounds not let you calm down? Do you have difficulty roaming the streets of your city because of dense traffic? Do you feel hungry all the time? Is it possible that someone has removed the ice blocks in your area and you therefore can't play your favourite game any more? Does someone make you want to buy all the more material things? Well, for all of these THE NON-SUSTAINABLE MONSTERS are to blame who inconvenience the planet EARTH...

6 Ο Σκοσπιδάρας Μέζα από έκα μεγάιμ ζςνό από ζθμοπίδηα, λεπεηάπηεθε, μηα θμνά, έκα ηενάζηημ, άζπεμμ, βνόμηθμ, επηθίκδοκμ, ηνμμαπηηθό ηέναξ... μ Σθμοπηδάναξ! Ο Σθμοπηδάναξ ήηακ θηηαγμέκμξ από ζθμοπίδηα. Γίπε κύπηα μοηενά, γηα κα ζπίδεη ηα ζαθμύιηα. Γίπε ζθμοπίδηα ζηα μαιιηά θαη όηακ άκμηγε ημ ζηόμα ημο λενκμύζε πακημύ... μα ηη άιιμ; Σθμοπίδηα, θοζηθά! Ήηακ θαη πμιύ πμκηνόξ, μηαξ θαη ε πόιε ζηεκ μπμία δμύζε ήηακ γεμάηε από ζθμοπίδηα. Βιέπεηε, μη θάημηθμη αοηήξ ηεξ πμιηηείαξ πεημύζακ ηα ζθμοπίδηα ημοξ ζημοξ δνόμμοξ, ζηα πεδμδνόμηα, ζηα πςνάθηα, ζηηξ ζάιαζζεξ θαη όπμο αιιμύ έβνηζθακ. Τα ζθμοπίδηα ήηακ ηόζα πμιιά πμο αθόμα θαη μη θάδμη απμννημμάηςκ είπακ οπενπεηιίζεη. Τα έηνςγε, ιμηπόκ, μ Σθμοπηδάναξ θαη μεγάιςκε...θαη μεγάιςκε...θαη μεγάιςκε... Τηξ κύπηεξ, όηακ όιμη θμημμύκηακ, ηνηγονκμύζε, ακαπμδμγύνηδε ημοξ θάδμοξ απμννημμάηςκ θαη έηνςγε ηα ζθμοπίδηα. Όηακ πιεζίαδε ηα ζπίηηα ηεξ πόιεξ, όιμη ημ θαηαιάβαηκακ από ηε μονςδηά ημο θαη...θιείκμκηακ ζηα ζπίηηα ημοξ. Μύνηδε ηόζμ άζπεμα πμο θαηαιάβαηκεξ όηη ενπόηακ από πηιηόμεηνα μαθνηά. The Garbage man From inside a big pile of rubbish a huge, ugly, smelly and frightening monster leapt out... the Garbage man! The Garbage man was made of rubbish. He had sharp nails to tear the garbage bags. He had rubbish on his hair and when he opened his mouth, he spewed out...but what else? Rubbish, of course! He was very fat, since the city he lived in was full of rubbish. You see, the residents of this state threw their rubbish out onto the streets, the footpaths, in the fields, in the seas and anywhere else they could. There was so much rubbish that even the waste bins had overflowed. Therefore, the garbage man ate them and so he grew...and grew...and grew... During the night, when everyone was asleep, he wandered around, tipping the waste bins upside down and eating the rubbish. When he approached the houses of the city everyone knew it from his smell and...closed themselves within their houses. He smelt so bad that you could tell he was coming from miles away.

Κάπμημη άνπηζακ κα πεημύκ ηα ζθμοπίδηα ημοξ ζε άιιεξ γεηημκηέξ, γηα κα μεκ ημοξ επηζθέπηεηαη μ Σθμοπηδάναξ. Τμ μόκμ πμο θαηάθενκακ, όμςξ, ήηακ κα νοπαίκμοκ ηε γύνς πενημπή θαη κα μεηαθένμοκ ημ πνόβιεμα...ιίγμ πημ θάης! The people were so afraid of the Garbage man but they didn't understand that their rubbish was the problem. They kept on buying and throwing, while at the same time the Garbage man kept on eating and growing more and more. Some people began throwing their rubbish in other neighbourhoods, so that the Garbage man would not visit them. All they succeeded in doing was to pollute the surrounding area and to shift the problem... a little further away. Ο Σθμοπηδάναξ άνπηζε κα νοπαίκεη θαη ηε ζάιαζζα. Κάζε θμνά πμο απμθάζηδε κα πάεη γηα θμιύμπη, αθεκόηακ ζηεκ αγθαιηά ηεξ ζάιαζζαξ, λεπκώκηαξ όηη δεκ λένεη κα θμιομπά. Καζώξ, ιμηπόκ, άκμηγε ημ ζηόμα ημο κα θςκάλεη «βμήζεηα», λενκμύζε ηεκεθεδάθηα, μπμοθάιηα, πενημδηθά, εθεμενίδεξ θαη ό,ηη άιιμ ζθμοπίδη θακηαζηείηε, ζηε ζάιαζζα! Τα ράνηα άνπηζακ κα δοζακαζπεημύκ. Κάπμημη ζαιάζζημη μνγακηζμμί άνπηζακ κα εγθιςβίδμκηαη μέζα ζε ηεκεθεδάθηα, θάπμημη αννώζηεζακ θαη θάπμημη πέζακακ, ηνώγμκηαξ ημληθά απμννίμμαηα. Η θαηάζηαζε γηκόηακ, πιέμκ, επηθίκδοκε. The Garbage man began to pollute the sea. Every time he decided to go for a swim, he let himself go into the sea, forgetting that he doesn't know how to swim. So as he opened his mouth to yell "help", he spewed out tins, bottles, magazines, newspapers and any other rubbish you can imagine into the sea! The fish began to get restless. Some sea organisms became enclaved inside the cans, some got sick and some died eating toxic waste. The situation was becoming dangerous.

8 Μηα μένα, εθεί πμο μ Σθμοπηδάναξ έθακε ηε ζοκεζηζμέκε ημο βόιηα ζε έκα πάνθμ, γηα κα πάνεη...θαζανό αένα, ημκ πενίμεκε μηα δοζάνεζηε έθπιελε. Έκα μεγάιμ θμνηεγό μάδεοε ημ θαΐ ημο! -Πξύ παίομετε τξ υαΐ μξρ; One day when the Garbage man was doing his usual walk at a park, to get some... clean air, an unpleasant surprise was waiting for him. A big truck was collecting his food! - Where are you taking my food? - Help! A monster, yelled out the frightened municipality employees, who were in charge of recycling. Without wasting any time, the Garbage man jumped into the truck. He felt as though he was the happiest monster in the whole world, since his favourite rubbish was all around him. He couldn't begin to imagine where he would go... -Βξήθεια! Έμα τέοαπ, υώμαναμ έμτοξμξι ξι ρπάλληιμη ημο δήμμο, πμο ήηακ οπεύζοκμη γηα ηεκ ακαθύθιςζε. Χςνίξ κα πάζεη θαηνό, μ Σθμοπηδάναξ πήδελε μέζα ζημ θμνηεγό. Έκηςζε πςξ ήηακ ημ πημ εοηοπηζμέκμ ηέναξ ημο θόζμμο, μηαξ θαη γύνς ημο οπήνπακ ηα αγαπεμέκα ημο ζθμοπίδηα. Δεκ μπμνμύζε κα θακηαζηεί πμύ ζα πήγαηκε... The truck stopped. The municipality employees unloaded the truck. The Garbage man, hidden inside one of the contaners, found himself in front of a huge surprise: machines everywhere. Some machines were sorting the rubbish, others were compressing the rubbish, and after the large cubes of compressed material were passed on down the road for recycling. He got scared. He hid. Would he also be recycled? He had to leave. Τμ θμνηεγό ζηαμάηεζε. Οη οπάιιειμη ημο δήμμο λεθόνηςζακ ημ θμνηεγό. Ο Σθμοπηδάναξ, θνομμέκμξ μέζα ζημοξ θάδμοξ, βνέζεθε μπνμζηά ζε μία μεγάιε έθπιελε: μεπακήμαηα πακημύ. Άιια κα δηαπςνίδμοκ ηα ζθμοπίδηα, άιια κα ηα ζομπηέδμοκ, θαη μεηά μη μεγάιμη θύβμη από ζομπηεζμέκα οιηθά κα παίνκμοκ μ θαζέκαξ ημ δνόμμ ημο γηα ηεκ ακαθύθιςζε. Φμβήζεθε. Κνύθηεθε. ζα ημκ ακαθύθιςκακ θη αοηόκ; Έπνεπε κα θύγεη.

9 Οη άκζνςπμη ζοκέπηζακ κα ακαθοθιώκμοκ. Καηάιαβακ όηη ε ακαθύθιςζε ήηακ μ μόκμξ ηνόπμξ γηα κα απαιιαγμύκ από ημ Σθμοπηδάνα. Δηαπώνηδακ ηα απμννίμμαηά ημοξ θαη ηα ημπμζεημύζακ ζημοξ εηδηθμύξ θάδμοξ. Αγόναδακ ιηγόηενα θαη απέθεογακ ηα πνμσόκηα μηαξ πνήζεξ. Γπακαπνεζημμπμημύζακ ό,ηη μπμνμύζακ... θαη μ Σθμοπηδάναξ όιμ θαη μίθναηκε...θαη μίθναηκε...θαη μίθναηκε... The people continued to recycle. They understood that recycling was the only way to get rid of the garbage. They separated their leftovers so they could be deposited in special containers. They bought less and avoided products that could be used only once. They used again and again whatever they could... and the Garbage man became smaller... and smaller... and smaller...

11 Οη πενηπέηεηεξ ημο Σηαγμκμθιέθηε The Waterdropstealers adventures Όια ηα ηέναηα λεθίκεζακ γηα ημ ηαλίδη ημοξ. Όπςξ θάζμκηακ μέζα ζημ ηεναημαενμπιάκμ ημοξ, μ Σηαγμκμθιέθηεξ γύνηζε πνμξ ημ πανάζονμ θαη είδε έκα πακέμμνθμ κεζί ζηε Μεζόγεημ ζάιαζζα. Τμ κεζί αοηό ήηακ ε ζθιαβςμέκε Κύπνμξ. Ο Σηαγμκμθιέθηεξ ζθέθηεθε με μηαξ: - Έμα μέοξπ πεοιτοιγροισμέμξ από θάιαζζα είκαη όηη πνεηαδόμαζηε γηα κα πνμμεζεύζμομε ηεκ Τεναημπώνα με θαζανό κενό. Αοηή ε ζθέρε έθηακε γηα κα βνεζεί με έκα ηεναημγηγάκηημ πήδεμα ζημ κεζί. All the monsters set off for their journey. As they were flying in the monster-plane the Waterdropstealer turned to the window and saw a beautiful island in the Mediterranean sea. The island was the occupied island of Cyprus. The Waterdropstealer thought: - A place surrounded by sea is what we need to supply the Monster country with clean water. This thought was enough for the Waterdropstealer to make a gigantic leap and find itself on the island. Κμίηαλε γύνς ημο θαη πνμζπάζεζε κα βνεη ημκ ηνόπμ γηα κα θιέρεη ημ κενό από ημοξ θαημίθμοξ. Σύκημμα θαηάιαβε όηη ηα πνάγμαηα ήηακ δύζθμια. Μόκμξ ήηακ α- δύκαημ κα ηα θαηαθένεη. Γπηζηνάηεοζε, ιμηπόκ, ημ μόκμ όπιμ πμο είπε, ηεκ πμκενηά ημο. Έβαιε ηεκ θαιή ημο θμνεζηά πήνε θαη ημ ζμβανό ημο ύθμξ. It looked around and tried to find a way to steal water from the residents. Soon it realized that things were difficult. By itself it was impossible to achieve its goal. It was very CHEEKY and used its cheekiness to get through to the residents of the island. It got dressed in its formal suit trying to look serious and set off to meet the inhabitants of the island.

Οη θάημηθμη αμέζςξ λεπέναζακ ημ θόβμ ημοξ θαη θάζηζακ κα ημκ αθμύζμοκ με πνμζμπή:. Θα ήζεια κα με βμεζήζεηε κα μεηαθένς κενό από ημ κεζί ζαξ ζηεκ Τεναημπώνα, αθμύ με ηεκ απενηζθερία μαξ ημ έπμομε βνμμίζεη. Γγώ ζε ακηάιιαγμα μαδί με ημκ As soon as the people saw it they got extremely scared, but the Waterdropstealer began sweet talking to them: The residents immediately overcame their fears and sat to listen carefully to the monster s ideas: - I would like you to help me transfer water from your island to the monstercountry because due to our recklessness we have polluted our water. In return with the help of our monster-army I will scare off your conquerors and you will regain your freedom. ηεναημζηναηό μμο, ζα ηνμμάλς ημοξ θαηαθηεηέξ, γηα κα θύγμοκ κα ζαξ αθήζμοκ ειεύζενμοξ. Οη θάημηθμη αθμύ ημ θαιμζθέθηεθακ δέπηεθακ κα ηεκ πνόηαζε ημο Σηαγμκμθιέθηε. Έηζη ε ζομθςκία έθιεηζε. Tεκ ίδηα μένα μ ηεναημζηναηόξ εγθαηέζηεζε έκα ηενάζηημ αγςγό πμο έκςκε ηεκ Κύπνμ με ηεκ Τεναημπώνα θαη μεηέθενε After giving some thought to the monster s suggestion the residents decided to accept. So the deal was sealed. On the same day the monster-army built a huge pipeline connecting Cyprus to the Monster-Country that transferred the island s water to the Waterdropstealer s homeland. ημ κενό ημο κεζημύ ζηεκ παηνίδα ημο Σηαγμκμθιέθηε.

13 Before the residents began to understand what was going on, the dams and rivers began to drain to dry up. Even the sea water level started going down. The Waterdropstealer was very greedy. As if this was not enough the Waterdropstealer also secretly pumped water from the residents water tanks during the evenings. Unfortunately the monster succeeded. Difficult days began to dawn on the island. The water became less and less day by day. The field plantations began to die, animals were thirsty and the people had no water to drink or to carry out everyday chores. It was now obvious to the residents of the island that the Waterdropstealer was nothing but a big liar and that he never intended to honor their agreement. Therefore, they had to work together to find a way to at least save the water that was left. Δεκ έθηακακ αοηά, ηα βνάδηα μ Σηαγμθιέθηεξ νμοθμύζε απόνηαγα κενό από ηα κηεπόδηηα ηςκ ζπηηηώκ ηςκ θαημίθςκ θαη δε ζηαμαημύζε, ακ δεκ θαηάπηκε θαη ηεκ ηειεοηαία ζηαγόκα. Σηγά ζηγά ημ μμκαδηθό πνάγμα πμο ημκ ηθακμπμημύζε ήηακ κα ζθανθίδεηαη ηνόπμοξ κα ιηγμζηεύεη ημ κενό ημο κεζημύ θαη κα αολάκεη ημ κενό ηεξ πώναξ ημο. Δοζηοπώξ ηα θαηάθενε. Δύζθμιεξ μένεξ άνπηζακ κα λεμενώκμοκ ζημ κεζί. Τμ κενό ιηγόζηεοε μένα με ηε μένα. Οη θοηείεξ ζηα πςνάθηα άνπηζακ κα λεναίκμκηαη, ηα δώα δηρμύζακ, μη άκζνςπμη δεκ είπακ κενό μύηε γηα κα πημοκ μύηε γηα κα θάκμοκ ηηξ πημ α- πιέξ θαζεμενηκέξ ημοξ δμοιεηέξ. Τώνα πηα ήηακ ζίγμονμη όηη μ Σηαγμκμθιέθηεξ ημοξ λεγέιαζε, όηη δεκ είπε ζθμπό κα ηενήζεη ηε ζομθςκία ημοξ. Έπνεπε ιμηπόκ κα ζοκενγαζημύκ γηα κα βνμοκ έκα ηνόπμ κα ζώζμοκ ημοιάπηζημ όζμ κενό ημοξ απέμεηκε.

14 Έκςζακ ηηξ δοκάμεηξ ημοξ θαη θαηάθενακ κα δηώλμοκ ημ Σηαγμκμθιέθηε από ημ κεζί. Μεηά απμζύκδεζακ ημ μεγάιμ οδναγςγό. Πανόια αοηά ημ κενό θαη πάιη ήηακ ιηγμζηό. Έπνεπε κα πάνμοκ πημ δναζηηθά μέηνα. Πήνακ αοζηενά μέηνα γηα ελμηθμκόμεζε ημο κενμύ, ίδνοζακ μμκάδεξ αθαιάηςζεξ ζε όιεξ ηηξ παναιηαθέξ πόιεηξ. Αθόμα θαη εηζαγςγή κενμύ έθακακ από άιιεξ γεηημκηθέξ πώνεξ. Όιμη όμςξ ήλενακ πςξ ημ μόκμ πμο ζα ημοξ έζςδε ήηακ μηα δοκαηή βνμπή, μηα θαη ημ κεζί ηα ηειεοηαία πνόκηα μαζηηδόηακ από ακμμβνία. Πνμζεοπήζεθακ θαη αοηό πμο πενίμεκακ έγηκε. Ξεθίκεζε κα βνέπεη αζηαμάηεηα γηα μένεξ θαη κύπηεξ. Οη γάνγανεξ πεγέξ έηνεπακ θαη πάιη θαζανό κενό, ηα πμηάμηα πιεμμύνηζακ, ηα θνάγμαηα γέμηζακ. Οη θάημηθμη ήηακ πμιύ εοηοπηζμέκμη θαη ο- πμζπέζεθακ πςξ δε ζα αθήζμοκ λακά θακέκα Σηαγμκμθιέθηε κα ημοξ θιέρεη αοηό They joined forces and were able to expel the Waterdropstealer from the island. The next step was to disconnect the big water pipeline. Nevertheless, there didn t seem to be much water left. More drastic measures had to be taken. They took strict measures to save the water desalination plants that were established in all coastal cities. They even had to import water from other neighbouring countries. However, everyone knew that the only thing that would really save them was a lot of rain something the island didn t have for a very long time. They all prayed and waited to see what was going to happen. Thankfully it started raining for many days and nights. The water-sources were full again with clean water, the rivers flooded and the dams filled up again. The residents were very happy and promised that never again would they let any Waterdropstealer steal this valuable commodity... the WATER.

Deodată, am zărit în înaltul cerului o navă spaţială, sofisticată, din care a ieşit un nor cu formă ciudată, ce a întunecat cerul It was a wonderfully hot day.
