2 Voorzichtig: De watertank staat onder druk. S.v.p. de knop ingedrukt houden om de stoom te laten ontsnappen. Trek de stekker uit het stopcontact. Het apparaat 5 minuten af laten koelen alvorens u de dop opendraait om evt. na te vullen. Attention: Water tank is under pressure. Keep the button pressed to allow the steam to escape. Pull the plug from the wall socket. Allow the device to cool down for five minutes before refilling. Achtung: Wassertank ist unter Druck. Drücken Sie den Knopf um den Dampf abzulassen. Ziehen Sie den Stecker aus der Steckdose. Vor der Nachfüllung mit Wasser 5 Minuten warten bis der Tank sich abgekühlt hat. Attention: Le réservoir d'eau est sous pression. 4 VEILIGHEIDSVOORSCHRIFTEN Waarschuwing: Bij het gebruik van ieder elektrisch apparaat, dienen basisvoorzorgsmaatregelen inzake veiligheid altijd nageleefd te worden. Onderstaande instructies dienen opgevolgd te worden om het risico van brand, elektrische schok of verwonding te reduceren. Algemeen 1. Lees deze gebruiksaanwijzing zorgvuldig door voordat u het apparaat gaat gebruiken. Bewaar de gebruiksaanwijzing om deze indien nodig te kunnen raadplegen. 2. Gebruik het apparaat uitsluitend zoals in deze gebruiksaanwijzing staat beschreven. 3. Controleer of de aangegeven netspanning op het apparaat overeenkomt met de plaatselijke netspanning voordat u het apparaat aansluit. 4. Dit apparaat dient te worden aangesloten op een geaard stopcontact. 5. Controleer regelmatig of het apparaat intact is. Gebruik het apparaat niet indien de stroomkabel of de stekker beschadigd is, of wanneer enig onderdeel van het apparaat is gevallen of beschadigd is geraakt. Indien de stroomkabel beschadigd is, moet u het laten vervangen door Van den Berg Products of een door Van den Berg Products geautoriseerd servicecentrum om gevaar te voorkomen. 6. Repareer om gevaren te vermijden het apparaat nooit zelf. 7. Dit apparaat is niet geschikt voor gebruik door kinderen of personen met verminderde lichamelijke, zintuiglijke of geestelijke vermogens, of die gebrek aan ervaring of kennis hebben, tenzij iemand die verantwoordelijk is voor hun veiligheid toezicht op hen houdt of hen heeft uitgelegd hoe het apparaat dient te worden gebruikt. Nauwlettend toezicht is vereist als het apparaat in nabijheid van kinderen, huisdieren of planten wordt gebruikt. 8. Laat kinderen nooit met het verpakkingsmateriaal spelen, er bestaat verstikkingsgevaar. 9. Laat het apparaat nooit onbeheerd achter als de stekker in het stopcontact zit. 10. Schakel het apparaat uit en neem de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer u het apparaat vult, leegt, reinigt of als u het apparaat niet gebruikt. 11. Trek nooit aan de stroomkabel, maar aan de stekker zelf om deze uit het stopcontact te nemen. 12. Gebruik het apparaat niet met behulp van een verlengsnoer, tenzij dit verlengsnoer gecontroleerd en getest is door een gekwalificeerde monteur. 13. Til het apparaat nooit op aan de stroomkabel, gebruik de stroomkabel niet als handvat, trek de stroomkabel niet om scherpe randen of hoeken. 14. Laat het apparaat niet over de stroomkabel rijden en laat de stroomkabel niet op enige wijze knikken of omkrullen. 15. Houd het apparaat, de stekker en de stroomkabel uit de buurt van vuur en hete oppervlakken. 16. Zorg ervoor dat het apparaat volledig afgekoeld is wanneer u accessoires bevestigt of losmaakt of voordat u het apparaat opbergt. 17. Gebruik geen accessoires die niet zijn aanbevolen door Van den Berg Products, in het bijzonder geen accessoires die niet bij het apparaat zijn geleverd. 18. Gebruik het apparaat nooit in ruimtes waar bepaalde dampen aanwezig kunnen zijn (verfverdunner, brandbare stof, verf en lakken op oliebasis, ontvlambare vloeistoffen en gassen). Dit i.v.m. explosiegevaar. 19. Niet buiten gebruiken. 20. Dompel het apparaat en/of de stroomkabel nooit in water of andere vloeistoffen. 21. Kom niet met natte handen aan het apparaat of de stekker. 22. Pak het apparaat nooit op indien het in water of een andere vloeistof is gevallen. Neem in dit geval meteen de stekker uit het stopcontact. 4

5 23. Wees extra voorzichtig bij het reinigen van trappen of andere ongelijke oppervlakken. 24. Berg het apparaat binnenshuis op. 25. Schade veroorzaakt door verkeerd gebruik van stoom aan objecten, materialen, personen en/of dieren of door het niet naleven van de instructies in deze gebruiksaanwijzing wordt uitgesloten van garantie. Dit apparaat is alleen bestemd voor huishoudelijk gebruik, NIET voor bedrijfsmatig gebruik. Stoomfunctie Waarschuwing: De kracht en warmte van de stoom kunnen nadelige gevolgen hebben voor bepaalde materialen. Controleer altijd voordat u het apparaat in gebruik neemt, of een oppervlak of materiaal ook daadwerkelijk geschikt is voor behandeling met stoom. Doe dit door een test uit te voeren op een verborgen oppervlak van het te behandelen materiaal. 1. De kracht en de hitte van de stoom kunnen nadelige uitwerkingen hebben op sommige materialen. Voorbeelden: gelakt hout of leer kan als gevolg van de stoom worden gebleekt. Glanzende kunststof kan door behandeling met stoom dof worden. Acryl, fluweel en linnen reageren zeer gevoelig op stoom. 2. Het apparaat niet gebruiken op ongelakte vloeren of vloeren die behandeld zijn met was. 3. Plaats het apparaat nooit lang op één plek! Dit kan beschadigingen aan het te behandelen materiaal veroorzaken! 4. Contact met hete onderdelen, heet water of stoom kan brandwonden tot gevolg hebben. Wees daarom ook zeer voorzichtig wanneer u het apparaat na gebruik leeg laat lopen, er kan nog heet water in het apparaat zitten. 5. Het apparaat warmt op tijdens gebruik. Raak daarom tijdens gebruik alleen handvat en knoppen aan. 6. Richt de stoomstraal nooit op mensen, dieren of planten. 7. Richt de stoomstraal nooit rechtstreeks op zeer koude glasoppervlakten, elektrische apparaten of op delen van apparaten waar zich de elektrische componenten bevinden, denk aan de onderdelen in de oven. 8. Bewerk geen kledingstukken, die zich op het lichaam bevinden. 9. Let er op, dat u op tijd water bijvult. Vul de tank uitsluitend met koud water. 10. Voeg geen schoonmaakmiddelen, parfum, olie of andere chemicaliën toe aan het water dat u gebruikt in uw apparaat, aangezien dit schade kan veroorzaken aan het apparaat of het apparaat onveilig kan maken in gebruik. 11. Overschrijdt niet de maximum voorgeschreven vulhoeveelheid van 500 ml. 12. De tank staat onder druk. De tanksluiting mag tijdens het gebruik niet worden geopend. 13. Tijdens het gebruik mag het apparaat niet meer dan 45 worden gekanteld. 14. Het apparaat is uitgerust met een thermostaat en een thermische beveiliging als bescherming tegen oververhitting. 5

7 HET GEBRUIK Voor gebruik Verwijder alle verpakkingsmaterialen. Reinig het apparaat, indien nodig, met een vochtige doek en eventueel wat reinigingsmiddel (zie hiervoor ook de paragraaf "onderhoud en reiniging"). Controleer het apparaat op schade voor elk gebruik. Gebruik het apparaat niet indien het apparaat of de stroomkabel beschadigd is of niet goed werkt. Vullen van de watertank Zorg ervoor dat het apparaat niet is aangesloten op het stroomnet. Open de vuldop door er op te drukken en het tegen de wijzers van de klok in open te draaien. Vul de tank met behulp van de trechter en maatbeker met 500 ml water. Plaats de vuldop weer op het apparaat en draai de dop vast door deze met de wijzers van de klok mee te draaien. Let op: voeg geen schoonmaakmiddelen, parfum, olie of andere chemicaliën toe aan het water, aangezien dit schade kan veroorzaken aan de unit dan wel het apparaat onveilig maakt in gebruik. Let op: overschrijdt niet de maximum voorgeschreven vulhoeveelheid van 500 ml. Gebruik van accessoires Let op: Neem de stekker uit het stopcontact en laat het apparaat volledig afkoelen voordat u accessoires plaatst of verwijdert. De accessoires worden heet tijdens gebruik. Verlengbuizen Men kan naargelang de toepassing één of twee buizen voor de verlenging gebruiken. Schuif de verlengbuis vast tot deze hoorbaar vastklikt. Aansluitend wordt de vloerborstel gemonteerd. Vloerborstel De vloerborstel wordt met een apart verbindingsstuk geleverd. Monteer het verbindingsstuk op de achterkant van de vloerborstel (eenmalige montagehandeling). Nu is de vloerborstel klaar voor gebruik. De vloerborstel is geschikt voor het reinigen van grote, afwasbare vloer en wandoppervlakken. Zet de vloerborstel op de vloerdoek en trek de doek zijdelings onder de 7

8 klemmen. Wanneer u de vloerdoek regelmatig omkeert en wisselt, verbetert u de vuilopname. Reinig sterk vervuilde oppervlakken door langzaam te werken, om zo de inwerktijd van de stoom te verlengen. Let op: het apparaat is niet geschikt voor houten vloeren zonder beschermlaag, zachte kunststoffen en houten meubelen. Vloerdoek Zet de vloerborstel op de vloerdoek en trek de vloerdoek telkens zijdelings onder de klemmen. Stoomspuitstuk Het stoomspuitstuk kunt u gebruiken voor de reiniging van hoeken, voegen, jaloezieën, centrale verwarmingen, toiletten, armaturen, roestvrij staal, ruiten, spiegels, geëmailleerde oppervlakken, oplossen van vlekken. U kunt het stoomspuitstuk direct op de handgreep of op een verlengbuis aanbrengen. Opzetborstels Ideaal voor het reinigen van voegen tussen tegels, keramiek en marmer. U kunt de kunststof borstels direct op het stoomspuitstuk of op de verlengbuis aanbrengen. Raamwisser Bevestig de raamwisser direct op het stoomspuitstuk of op de verlengbuis tot het hoorbaar vast klikt. De raamwisser is perfect voor het reinigen van ruiten, spiegels, keramische tegels en andere poriënvrije, gladde oppervlakken. Let op: bij een warmteschok kunnen glasoppervlakken springen. Verwarm het glasoppervlak voor de stoomreiniging voor, door het opbrengen van zeer uitgespreide stoom van op een afstand van 20 tot 25 cm van het oppervlak. Verminder de afstand bij de opwarming van het glas op 10 tot 15 cm. 8

9 Het gebruik Aan/uit schakelaar Wanneer de watertank gevuld is en eventuele accessoires zijn bevestigd, stopt u de stekker in het stopcontact. Schakel het apparaat in met de Aan/Uit schakelaar. Het indicatielampje licht op. Indicatielampje stoom Zodra het apparaat op temperatuur is, dooft het indicatielampje op de handgreep. Het apparaat is nu klaar voor gebruik. Let op: de vuldop mag tijdens gebruik NOOIT worden geopend (DE TANK STAAT ONDER DRUK). Gebruikstips Houten, vinyl en marmeren vloeren: Gebruik hiervoor de vloerdoek. Beweeg de vloerdoek over de vloer net als een mop. Op een zeer vuil oppervlak beweegt u de vloerdoek langzaam meerdere malen op dezelfde plek heen en weer. Bij een houten vloer moet u wat sneller werken om te voorkomen dat de vloer te heet en te vochtig wordt. Vinyl vloeren: Zorg ervoor dat dit soort vloeren niet te heet wordt door zeer snel te werken. De stoom kan de vloer anders zo warm maken dat het vinyl zacht wordt en daardoor de structuur aantast. Tegelvloeren: Gebruik hiervoor het stoomspuitstuk, vastgezet op een verlengbuis. Houd de vloerdoek bij de hand. Haal het vuil uit de voegen met behulp van een borsteltje. Verwijder dan het borsteltje en plaats de vloerdoek en beweeg deze heen en weer over de tegels om de tegels te reinigen en het teveel aan water en residu weer op te nemen. Laat de vloer niet droog worden voordat u de vloer met een doek heeft afgenomen. Vlekken verwijderen (karpetten): Gebruik hiervoor het stoomspuitstuk met of zonder borsteltje. Beweeg langzaam heen en weer over de vlek om de stoom in de vlek te laten trekken. Wrijf op met een borsteltje of met een schone doek. Dep de vlek met de doek, niet wrijven. Herhaal het hele proces indien nodig. Stofzuig het karpet pas als het helemaal droog is. Test altijd eerst op kleurechtheid op een onzichtbare plek voordat u gaat beginnen. Indien u er niet in slaagt om de vlek met alleen stoom te verwijderen kunt u speciale shampoo voor vloerbedekking gebruiken. Voeg echter nooit schoonmaakmiddelen, parfum, olie of andere chemicaliën aan het water toe dat u in de stoomreiniger gebruikt. Dit kan het apparaat beschadigen of het onveilig maken in gebruik. Let op: controleer alle materialen altijd op kleurechtheid, vooral rood en blauwtinten. Gebruik hiervoor een schone, vochtige doek op een plek uit het zicht, bijvoorbeeld onderop een meubelstuk en beweeg de doek voorzichtig heen en weer. Als er kleurstof in de doek zit kan het beter zijn te kiezen voor een chemische reiniging. Ruiten, glazen oppervlakken en spiegels: Gebruik de raamwisser. Maak met het spuitstuk bewegingen van boven naar beneden. Gebruik daarna de raamwisser zonder stoom om het water van het oppervlak te verwijderen. Om strepen te voorkomen beweegt u van boven naar beneden. Let op: wanneer u ruiten schoonmaakt dient u grote temperatuurverschillen te vermijden teneinde breken of barsten te voorkomen. 9

10 Fiberglas of roestvrij stalen oppervlakken: Gebruik een borsteltje en beweeg deze langzaam over het te reinigen oppervlak. De stoom maakt vuil en vet zacht. Veeg na met een badstof doek om het borsteltje heen gewikkeld om overtollig water en achtergebleven vuil op te nemen. Tip: een oude manier om roestvrij staal te laten glanzen is gebruik maken van water met soda opgelost en dit over het oppervlak wrijven. De badkamer: Om het bad of de doucheruimte schoon te maken gebruikt u een borsteltje voor de voegen, strepen op de douchedeur, moeilijk bereikbare plaatsen evenals zwaar vervuilde plaatsen. De raamwisser is het meest handige hulpstuk voor de rest van de ruimte. Geef de hitte de tijd om zijn werk te doen vooral in de doucheruimte wanneer deze betegeld is en voegen heeft. Wrijf na met een doek. Ook het verwijderen van zeepresten van tegels, voegen en douchedeuren gaat heel makkelijk met uw stoomreiniger. Kranen en dergelijke reinigt u met behulp van het stoomspuitstuk. Veeg het overtollige water en achtergebleven vuil op met een badstof doek of keukenpapier. De gootsteen en de kraan reinigt u met een borsteltje en wrijft u na met een doek. Zeepresten: Zeepresten lossen bijna direct op bij een combinatie van hitte en vocht. Spoel het oppervlak na met wat water of wrijf na met een badstof doek. Let op: zeepresten kunnen soms erg hard worden door de aanwezigheid van mineralen die in water voorkomen. Gebruik in dit geval een borsteltje om de toplaag te doorbreken of besprenkel het oppervlak eerst met citroensap, azijn of een sodaoplossing om de mineralen zacht te maken. Te langzaam bewegen kan tot gevolg hebben dat de zeepresten korrelig worden op het oppervlak. Dit voelt dan aan alsof er zand op ligt. Als dit gebeurt stoomt u nogmaals over het oppervlak met een borsteltje en maakt u het oppervlak alsnog schoon. Jaloezieën: Gebruik een borsteltje. Beweeg het borsteltje over het oppervlak en geef de stoom de tijd om in te trekken. Werk snel wanneer u PVC jaloezieën schoonmaakt. Test rolgordijnen op kleurechtheid alvorens te reinigen. Nawrijven met een doek. Planten van kunststof: Gebruik het stoomspuitstuk zonder borsteltje om stof en vuil weg te blazen. Kleding: Een stoombehandeling is uitermate effectief voor het verwijderen van kreukels uit stof. Alleen maar het oppervlak bestomen op een afstand van cm. De stoom verwijdert de kreukels zonder dat de stof nat wordt. Nicotine en teer: Nicotine en teer lossen op bij hoge temperaturen en veranderen in een gelige oliesubstantie. Wanneer deze substantie in contact komt met de vloerdoek wordt het direct door de vloerdoek opgenomen. U verwijdert het net zo snel als dat u de vloerdoek over het oppervlak beweegt. Het verwijderen van was, teer, etc.: Veel vlekken zitten slechts vast aan het oppervlak en kunnen makkelijk en snel worden verwijderd door het aan de zijkant van de vlek van het oppervlak af te blazen. Gebruik hiervoor het verlengde stoomspuitstuk. Houd een badstof doek aan de andere kant van de vlek zodat achtergebleven vuil door de doek wordt opgenomen. Stofzuig de te behandelen oppervlakken altijd voor de stoombehandeling om los vuil te verwijderen. 10

11 Keuken: Gebruik het stoomspuitstuk om vuil weg te blazen uit de koelkast en de deurrubbers. De stoom zal de rubbers niet uitdrogen of scheurtjes veroorzaken hetgeen vaak wel gebeurt bij gebruik van chemicaliën. Blikopeners en andere keukengereedschappen worden makkelijk schoon met behulp van een borsteltje waarbij de haren in alle kiertjes en gleufjes komen. Schimmelvlekken rond deurpakkingen worden verwijderd met een kunststof borsteltje. Wanneer u kleine elektrische apparaten met stoom reinigt, controleer dan eerst of de stekker uit het stopcontact is. Richt de stoom nooit in enige opening van een apparaat of in de richting van de elektrische aansluitingen. Om uw keukenblad te reinigen werkt u eerst met het borsteltje en wrijft u na met een badstof doek. Tips: Uw stoomreiniger is voor nog veel meer dingen geschikt dan hier wordt vermeld. U heeft slechts een algemeen idee gekregen van wat u allemaal met het apparaat kunt doen. De manier waarop u gebruik maakt van de hulpstukken is echter universeel. Het is handig om altijd een badstof doek of keukenpapier bij de hand te hebben om het gereinigde oppervlak droog te maken en het achtergebleven vuil op te nemen. Witte katoenen doeken werken het best. U kunt de borsteltjes zelf ook met de stoomreiniger schoonmaken. Houd het borsteltje dan met een tang vast en blaas het vuil uit het borsteltje of zet het borsteltje in het bestekmandje van de afwasmachine. Wrijf de gereinigde oppervlakken altijd direct na behandeling en voordat alles is opgedroogd na met een schone doek. Voor het reinigen van de oven gebruikt u een kunststof borsteltje om rond het verwarmingselement en de roosters te reinigen. Reinig kieren en gleuven en andere moeilijk bereikbare plekken met een borsteltje. Bijvullen van de watertank Als de watertank tijdens gebruik moet worden bijgevuld, schakelt u het apparaat uit en haalt u de stekker uit het stopcontact. Voor u de vuldop opent, dient u de stoomdruk te laten ontsnappen door op de stoomschakelaar op het stoompistool te drukken of het apparaat volledig te laten afkoelen. De watertank kan aansluitend als volgt worden bijgevuld: maak de vuldop los door er op te drukken en het tegen de wijzers van de klok in los te draaien. Vul de tank met behulp van de trechter en maatbeker met 500 ml water. Plaats de vuldop weer op het apparaat en draai de dop vast door deze met de wijzers van de klok mee te draaien. Let op: Ook na een afkoelfase van 5 minuten zijn het resterende water in de tank en de vuldop nog steeds heet. Schroef de vuldop zeer voorzichtig van de tank, omdat hete stoom kan ontsnappen en omdat men zich aan de hete schroefdraad kan verbranden. Voeg geen schoonmaakmiddelen, parfum, olie of andere chemicaliën toe aan het water, aangezien dit schade kan veroorzaken aan het apparaat dan wel het apparaat onveilig maakt in gebruik. Overschrijdt niet de maximum voorgeschreven vulhoeveelheid van 500 ml. In gebieden met hard water wordt het gebruik van gedistilleerd water aanbevolen, om te vermijden dat kalk wordt afgezet. Oververhittingbeveiliging Het apparaat is uitgerust met een oververhittingbeveiliging. Bij het bereiken van een te hoge temperatuur wordt het apparaat automatisch uitgeschakeld, om oververhitting te voorkomen. In dit geval dient u de stekker uit het stopcontact te halen en het apparaat volledig te laten afkoelen. U kunt het apparaat na een afkoeltijd van 30 minuten weer in gebruik nemen. 11

12 Na gebruik 1. Schakel het apparaat uit door op de Aan/Uit schakelaar te drukken. 2. Laat het apparaat volledig afkoelen. 3. Maak de watertank leeg door het apparaat om te keren. ONDERHOUD EN REINIGING Let op: Schakel het apparaat altijd uit en neem de stekker uit het stopcontact wanneer u het apparaat reinigt. Dompel het apparaat en/of de stroomkabel nooit in water of andere vloeistoffen. Reinigen 1. Schakel het apparaat uit en laat het volledig afkoelen voordat u het apparaat gaat reinigen. 2. Reinig het apparaat en de accessoires met een vochtige doek en eventueel wat reinigingsmiddel en maak goed droog. Let op: gebruik nooit schuurmiddelen, bleekmiddelen of staalwol om het apparaat te reinigen. Dit kan beschadigingen aan het materiaal veroorzaken. Uitspoelen van de watertank Voor het reinigen van de tank, kunt u deze met water vullen en krachtig schudden. Hierdoor worden eventuele kalkresten, die zich op de bodem van de tank hebben afgezet, losgemaakt. Giet het water vervolgens weer uit de tank, door het apparaat om te keren. Ontkalken Om een langere levensduur van uw apparaat te garanderen dient u de watertank ca. eens per 6 maanden te ontkalken. Schakel het apparaat uit, haal de stekker uit het stopcontact en giet het resterende water uit het apparaat zoals hierboven beschreven staat. Vul de tank met 500 ml heet water (50 C) en voeg één of maximaal twee, ontkalkingtabletten bij het water. Na een inwerktijd van ca. 30 minuten kunt u het water uit de tank gieten. Reinigen vloerdoek 1. Was de vloerdoek voor het eerste gebruik in de wasmachine op 40 C. Gebruik alleen vloeibaar wasmiddel. Gebruik nooit waspoeder omdat de korrels niet altijd volledig oplossen en vast gaan zitten in de doek. Dit kan krassen achterlaten op het oppervlak dat u schoon wilt maken. Let op: niet bleken of verzachten. 2. Laat de vloerdoek aan de lucht drogen. Let op: niet in de droogtrommel drogen. Opbergen 1. Schakel het apparaat uit en neem de stekker uit het stopcontact. 2. Laat het apparaat en de accessoires volledig afkoelen. 3. Maak de watertank leeg door het apparaat om te keren. 12

Always check, before putting the device into operation, whether a surface or material is suitable for treatment with steam. Do this by performing a test on a hidden surface of the material you wish to treat. 1. The force and heat of the steam may damage certain materials. Some fabrics may react to the temperature of the steam. For example: unpainted wood or leather can be bleached by steam action. Shiny plastic materials may become dull by treatment with steam. Acrylic fibre, velvet and linen are very sensitive to high steam temperature. 2. Do NOT use the device on unpainted or waxed floors. 3. Do not keep the device too long on one spot! This can cause damage to materials! 4. Burns can occur from touching hot parts, hot water or steam. Be cautious when draining the device after use as there may be hot water in the device. 5. 19 THE USE Before use Remove all packaging materials. Clean the device, if necessary, with a wet cloth and some detergent (also see the paragraph "maintenance and cleaning"). Check the device for damage before each use. Do not use the device if the power cord or the device is damaged or not working properly. Filling the water tank Do not fill the steamer while plugged to the power supply. Remove the filling cap of the water tank by pressing it down and turning it anti clockwise. Fill the tank with a maximum of 500 ml of water using the funnel and measuring cup. Replace the filling cap and close it tight by turning in the clockwise direction. Note: do not add cleaning solutions, scented perfumes, oils or any other chemicals to the water used in this device, as this may damage the device and make it unsafe for use. Note: do not exceed the maximum prescribed fill of 500 ml for the water tank. Use of accessories Note: Unplug the appliance and let it cool down completely before you attach or remove accessories. The accessories will become hot during use. Extension tubes Depending on the task at hand, you can fit one or two extension tubes. Push the extension tube onto the connection nozzle as far as it will go until you hear it click into place. Then attach the floor brush. Floor brush The floor brush is supplied with a separate connection fitting. To use the floor brush, push the connection fitting onto the rear side of the floor brush. This has to be done only once. The floor brush is now fully assembled. The floor brush is suitable for the cleaning of large washable wall and 19

20 floor areas. Place the floor brush on the cleaning cloth and pull the cloth under the clips on both sides. The cleaning effect of a floor cloth can be improved by turning and changing the cloth regularly. To clean very dirty areas, move the floor brush over the surface slowly in order to increase the cleaning action of the steam. Note: the device is not suitable for cleaning unsealed wooden floors, soft plastics or wooden furniture. Cleaning cloth Place the floor brush on top of the cleaning cloth and pull the cloth under the clips on each side of the brush. Concentrator nozzle The concentrator nozzle can be used for cleaning hard to reach areas such as corners, joints, blinds, radiators, toilet bowls and taps but also for the cleaning of stainless steel, windows, mirrors, enamelled surfaces as well as removal of stubborn stains. Attach the concentrator nozzle directly onto the handle or onto the extension tubes. Brush attachment The brushes can be used for cleaning grout in between tiles, ceramic and marble. The plastic brushes can be fitted directly to the concentrator nozzle or to the extension tubes. Window squeegee Attach the window squeegee onto the concentrator nozzle or onto the extension tubes until you hear it click into place. Perfect for cleaning windows, mirrors, ceramic tiles and non porous, smooth surfaces. Note: glass surfaces can be shattered by the sudden application of excessive heat. Before cleaning such glass surfaces with the steam cleaner, warm them up by applying steam to the surface from a distance of cm. Continue by applying steam from a distance of cm. 20

21 The use On/off switch When the water tank is filled, insert the plug into the socket. Switch the device on by pressing the ON/OFF switch to ON. The indicator light lights up. Steam indicator light The steam indicator light switches off as soon as the operating temperature is reached. The device is now ready for use. Note: the filling cap of the cleaner must never be opened during use (CONTAINER UNDER PRESSURE). User tips Wood, vinyl and marble floors: Use the floor brush with the cleaning cloth attached and move in strokes over the area to be cleaned. If you are working on a very dirty area, move the floor brush very slowly for several times. When cleaning a wooden floor, move faster to avoid heat or moisture build up in the wood. Vinyl floors: Avoid heat build up on vinyl as it may soften too much and affect the texture. Work with fast strokes. Tiled floors: Attach the concentrator nozzle with the bristle brush to an extension tube. Clean the grouting between the tiles with the bristle brush. Remove the bristle brush and attach the floor brush with the cleaning cloth. Move the floor brush across the floor to clean the tiles and remove excess moisture and residue. Do not let the area dry before all dirt has been removed. Spot cleaning (carpets): Use the concentrator nozzle with or without the bristle brush. Move slowly over the soiled area, allowing the steam to penetrate. Loosen the dirt with the bristle brush or a clean towel. Dab the spot with the towel (do not rub). Repeat as necessary to remove stain. Vacuum only after the carpet has completely dried. Always test colour fastness of the carpet in an inconspicuous area before cleaning. If your steam cleaner fails to remove stubborn stains, a commercially available carpet shampoo may be required. Do not add cleaning solutions, scented perfumes, oils or any other chemicals to the water used in this appliance as this may damage the unit or make it unsafe for use. Note: always determine the colour fastness of any fabric especially with reds or blues by taking a clean, moist, warm towel and gently rubbing a small area on the back or other out of the way place. If colour comes off on the towel, you may need to have the piece dry cleaned instead. Window, glass surfaces and mirrors: Attach the window squeegee. Switch on the steam and move with top to bottom movements. Use the squeegee without the steam to remove the water from the glass. Use lateral movements from the top to the bottom to avoid streaks. Note: when cleaning windows, avoid sudden changes in temperature to prevent glass breakage or cracks. Fibreglass or stainless steel surfaces: Use the bristle brush. Slowly move the brush over the surface to be cleaned. The steam will emulsify the dirt and grease on the surface. Follow with a terry cloth towel over the brush to remove excess moisture and residue. Tip: an old fashioned way to polish stainless steel is to wipe it 21

22 down with seltzer soda water after cleaning. Bathroom areas: To clean the bathtub or shower area, use the bristle brush for grouting, shower door tracks, hard to reach areas and heavily soiled areas. The window squeegee will be the most efficient way to clean the rest of the bathroom. Allow plenty of time for the heat to penetrate the surface. This is especially helpful in the shower area when cleaning tiles and grouting. Wipe with a towel. Removal of soap scum on tiles, grouting and shower doors is very easy with the steam cleaner. To clean taps and fixtures, use the concentrator nozzle with or without bristle brush. Use a terry cloth towel or paper towel to wipe up excess moisture and residue. To clean the sink and faucets, use the bristle brush then finish by wiping with a towel. Soap scum: Soap scum dissolves almost immediately with a combination of heat and moisture. Rinse the surface with a small amount of water afterwards or steam again with a clean terry cloth towel. Note: soap scum will sometimes develop a crust from waterborne minerals. If this is the case, use the bristle brush to break up this crust or spray or wipe first with lemon, vinegar or seltzer soda water to soften the minerals. Moving too slowly can dry out the soap scum and cause it to granulate on the surface. The surface will have a gritty feel. If this happens, apply steam to the surface with the bristle brush again and re clean. Blinds: Use the bristle brush to clean blinds. Move the brush over the surface, allowing enough time for the steam to penetrate. Work quickly on PVC blinds. Test for colour fastness on fabric blinds before using. Finish by wiping with a towel. Artificial plants: Use the concentrator nozzle without a brush attached to blow off the dust and dirt. Clothing: A steam cleaning system is excellent for removing wrinkles from fabrics. Simply steam the surface from a distance (30 45 cm). The dry steam removes wrinkles without leaving the fabric wet. Nicotine and tar: Nicotine and tar dissolves at high temperatures and turns into a yellow oil. When the nicotine/tar film is touched by the cleaning cloth, it immediately dissolves and flows into the cloth. You can remove it from flat surfaces as fast as you can move the floor brush with cleaning cloth over the surface. Removing wax, tar, etc.: Many stains are attached to the surface of materials only and can be easily removed by blowing excess material away from the surface. This is done with the use of the concentrator nozzle aimed at the side of the stain. Hold the terry cloth towel to the other side to catch loose residue as it is blown away by the concentrator nozzle. Always vacuum any loose residue off the surface before you apply steam. Kitchen: Use the concentrator nozzle to blow away any dirt in the refrigerator and on door seals. The steam will not dry out or crack the seals which chemicals often do. Can openers and other kitchen equipment can be easily cleaned with the bristle brush to get into all nooks and crannies. Mould stains around door gaskets can be removed with the bristle brush. When cleaning small electrical 22

23 appliances always unplug them from the power outlet before cleaning. Do not direct steam into any openings of the appliances or onto any electrical connections. To clean counter tops, use the bristle brush first in order to loosen the debris, then wipe with a terry cloth towel to finish. Tips: The steam cleaner has many uses that are not listed here. This only serves to give you a general idea of what can be done with the unit. The way in which the attachments and brushes can be used is universal however. It is helpful to always have a terry cloth towel or paper towel ready to use for removal of moisture and residue. 100% white cotton towels work best. You can clean the brushes with your steam cleaner. When cleaning the bristle brushes, use a pair of pliers to hold and off blow dirt or place in the basket of your dishwasher. Wipe with a towel immediately before the cleaned area dries. When cleaning the oven, use the bristle brush to clean around the elements and drip trays. Use the bristle brush for cracks, crevices and hard to reach areas. Refilling the water tank If the water tank needs to be refilled during use, first switch the cleaner off and remove the plug from the socket. Before opening the tank cover to refill the tank, release the steam pressure by pressing the steam switch on the steam gun, or allow the cleaner to cool down completely. The water tank can then be refilled as follows: remove the filling cap by pressing it down and turning it anti clockwise. Fill the tank with 500 ml of water using the funnel and measuring cup. Replace the filling cap and close it tightly by turning in the clockwise direction. Note: Even after a cooling down period of 5 minutes, the remaining water in the tank and the tank lid will still be hot. Always take care when removing the filling cap, since hot steam may be emitted and the heat of the thread can cause burns. Do not add cleaning solutions, scented perfumes, oils or any other chemicals to the water used in this device, as this may damage the device and make it unsafe for use. Do not exceed the maximum prescribed fill of 500 ml for the water tank. The use of distilled water is recommended in areas with hard water to avoid lime scale deposits. Overheating protection The device is equipped with thermo protection against overheating. The device will switch off automatically when the temperature is too high in order to prevent over heating. If this happens, please remove the plug from the socket immediately. Allow the cleaner to cool down for 30 minutes before resuming work. After use 1. Turn off the device by pressing the on/off switch. 2. Allow the device to cool completely. 3. Empty the water tank by turning the device upside down. 23

24 MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING Note: Always switch off and unplug the device from the wall socket before cleaning. Never immerse the device and/or the power cord in water or other liquids. Cleaning the device 1. Turn the machine off and let it cool down completely. 2. Clean the device and accessories with a damp cloth and a mild detergent and allow to dry completely. Note: never use abrasives, bleaching agents or steel wool to clean the device. This could cause damage to the material. Rinsing the water tank To clean the water tank, we recommend that you fill it with water, close the cover and shake the unit vigorously. This will release any lime scale deposits that have collected on the bottom of the tank. Pour the water out by holding the cleaner upside down. Lime scale removal To extend the life of your device it is recommended to descale the appliance every six months. Switch the device off and remove the plug from the socket. Fill the tank with 500 ml of 50 C hot water and add one or two descaling tablets. Pour the water out as described above after 30 minutes. Cleaning the floor cloth 1. Before first use, wash the floor cloth in the washing machine at 40 C. Use a liquid detergent. Never use washing powder because the grains do not always dissolve completely and may be left in the cloth. This could leave scratches on the surface you are cleaning. Note: do not bleach or soften. 2. Allow the floor cloth to air dry. Note: do not tumble dry. Storage 1. Turn the device off and unplug the power. 2. Let the device and the accessories cool down completely. 3. Pour the water out by holding the device upside down. 24
