3 Epistle - St. Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:16-18; 7:1 B RETHREN, you are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God. Gospel - Matthew 15:21-28 A t that time, Jesus went to the district of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a Canaanite woman from that region came out and cried, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely possessed by a demon." But he did not answer her a word. And his disciples came and begged him, saying, "Send her away, for she is crying after us." He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." But she came and knelt before him, saying, "Lord, help me." And he answered, "It is not fair to take the children's bread and throw it to the dogs." She said, "Yes, Lord, yet even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table." Then Jesus answered her, "O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire." And her daughter was healed instantly. Τ ῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ἐξελθὼν ἐκεῖθεν ὁ Ιησοῦς ἀνεχώρησεν εἰς τὰ μέρη Τύρου καὶ Σιδῶνος. καὶ ἰδοὺ γυνὴ Χαναναία ἀπὸ τῶν ὁρίων ἐκείνων ἐξελθοῦσα ἐκραύγαζεν αὐτῷ λέγουσα ἐλέησόν με, Κύριε, υἱὲ Δαυΐδ ἡ θυγάτηρ μου κακῶς δαιμονίζεται. ὁ δὲ οὐκ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτῇ λόγον. καὶ προσελθόντες οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ ἠρώτων αὐτὸν λέγοντες ἀπόλυσον αὐτήν, ὅτι κράζει ὄπισθεν ἡμῶν. ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν οὐκ ἀπεστάλην εἰ μὴ εἰς τὰ πρόβατα τὰ ἀπολωλότα οἴκου Ισραήλ. ἡ δὲ ἐλθοῦσα προσεκύνησεν αὐτῷ λέγουσα Κύριε, βοήθει μοι. ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν οὐκ ἔστι καλὸν λαβεῖν τὸν ἄρτον τῶν τέκνων καὶ βαλεῖν τοῖς κυναρίοις. ἡ δὲ εἶπε ναί, Κύριε καὶ γὰρ τὰ κυνάρια ἐσθίει ἀπὸ τῶν ψυχίων τῶν πιπτόντων ἀπὸ τῆς τραπέζης τῶν κυρίων αὐτῶν. τότε ἀποκριθεὶς ὁ Ιησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὦ γύναι, μεγάλη σου ἡ πίστις! γενηθήτω σοι ὡς θέλεις. καὶ ἰάθη ἡ θυγάτηρ αὐτῆς ἀπὸ τῆς ὥρας ἐκείνης.

Receiving Holy Communion The sacrament of Holy Communion is reserved for only baptized and/or Chrismated Orthodox Christians who have properly prepared by fasting, prayer and confession. The Orthodox Church is not in sacramental communion with any other church outside the Orthodox Christian Faith. If you are not Orthodox, you are invited with everyone to receive the Antidoron (blessed bread) at the end of service. If you would like information about the Orthodox Church, please see Fr. GOLF (Greek Orthodox Ladies Fellowship) The Greek Orthodox Ladies Fellowship will meet on Tuesday, February 16 at 10am in Mt. Tabor Hall. All ladies are invited to join us for fellowship and discussion of the book Thirty Steps to Heaven: The Ladder of Divine Ascent for All Walks of Life by Vassilios Papavassiliou. Orthodox Young Professionals Orthodox Young Professionals of Transfiguration Service Project The Young Professionals of our parish would like to lead our community in helping IOCC make a difference in developing countries or when disaster strikes. Please contact Katrina Bitar, YES Program Director kbitar@focusna.org St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival at Transfiguration, Sunday, March 6 The St. John Chrysostom Oratorical Festival is an Archdiocesan project, designed to give students the opportunity to learn, write and speak about their Orthodox Faith, Church and heritage. We hope that this experience will strengthen students' identities as Orthodox Christians and cultivate spiritual growth and maturity. Students are divided into two divisions: Junior (grades 7-9) and Senior (grades 10-12). Each division has its own list of topics, and they are judged separately. Please take some time to explore the resources available at our site: Please note that the essay and poetry categories will not be continuing into they have proved too difficult to coordinate, and the national committee has decided to drop them Transfiguration Bible Bowl The gospel of John Sunday, April 3 Our annual Bible Bowl is approaching fast, so mark your calendars for April 3 and start brushing on John. 6 New Altar Boy Robes! We need your measurements!!! We are ordering new Altar Boy Robes and all Transfiguration boys that would like to serve in the Altar need to have their measurements taken in the next couple of Sundays. If your boys are interested in serving in the Altar please make sure they stop by the 4th grade Sunday School classroom and let Tricia Korioth measure them. Consecration Preparations under way! The beautification of our Sanctuary has started! Work is currently being done in the church and is expected to last during the month of February. These improvements/ maintenance work include repairs on the walls, taping/floating and retexturing upstairs and downstairs. Painting the entire church will begin after wall preparation is complete. Please stay safe and keep children away form the scaffolding.
