2 Introduction Introduction Asymmetric synthesis remains a challenge to synthetic chemists as the demand for enantiomerically pure compounds continues to increase. Whether the building blocks are used in the development of new and exciting chiral auxiliaries, ligands, or for obtaining advanced and enantiomerically enriched druglike molecules, research scientists continually need access to a vast array of novel chiral building blocks and architectures to achieve success.
