Memorial Today we will have a 40 day memorial in loving memory of Maria Klontzaris given by her family, a 3 month memorial in loving memory of Christos Timotheou given by his family, a 3 year memorial in loving memory of Brigid Xanthos given by her family John and Theresa Frangos and a 7 year memorial in loving memory of Ioannis Kalos, given by his family. As we observe this memorial of all who have reposed in Christ, let us, the faithful, also remember our own final day, and let us always entreat Christ for ourselves and for them, as well. Youth Groups Our HOPE & JOY groups are ministries at Saints Constantine and Helen that provide an opportunity for children to meet, socialize, and interact with one another through various events held during the year, while forming a sense of belonging to our parish and God. Please consider getting your kids involved in HOPE/JOY this year. Some of our prior events have included Christmas Crafts/Wreath Decorating, PB&J Night (pizza, bible and jammies, Chocolate Dipping, Ninja Warrior Training, and Bounce Houses. Our annual events are the Harvest Dance and Easter Egg Hunt. To join the program, please complete the attached registration form. There is no cost or fee to join since each event is pay as you go. Stop by the church office or email Kristin at tcbk64@aol.com for a registration form. Saint Pauls Letter to the Colossians. (3:4-11 Choir news Blessed are You, O Lord God of our fathers. For You are righteous in all You did for us. On Sunday, December 2, as in the last 12 or so years, members of our choir joined other area choirs and the West Point cadets for the traditional annual performance of Handel s Messiah at the Academy s cadet chapel. This year, it was the 60th anniversary of the occasion and maestro Craig Williams, the music director at the Academy, offered a few additional and extraordinary numbers from the great oratorio. Normally we limit the performance to only the first part of the three part opus, ending with the famous Hallelujah chorus of part two. However, because of the occasion, some exceptional numbers were added, including the beautiful finale of the entire work, the well known Amen. The participating members of our choir, as well as several of our parishioners in the full house audience, experienced a unique and unforgettable spiritual afternoon that gave us a taste of the true Christmas atmosphere. Brethren, when Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience. In these you once walked, when you lived in them. But now put them all away; anger, wrath, malice, slander, and foul talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all. The Holy Gospel According to Luke 14:16-24 11th Sunday of Luke The Lord said this parable: "A man once gave a great banquet, and invited many; and at the time of the banquet he sent his servant to say to those who had been invited, Come; for all is now ready. But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, I have bought a field, and I go out and see it; I pray you, have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I must go to examine them; I pray you, have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So the servant came and reported this to his master. Then the householder in anger said to his servant, Go out quickly to the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in the poor and maimed and blind and lame. And the servant said, Sir, what you commanded has been done, and there is still room.
