I T S T I M E F O R T H E 2014 CHILDREN S WORLD S FAIR The Community of Holy Trinity Cathedral is participating in the 16 th annual Children s World s Fair at the Louisiana Children s Museum on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Plans to showcase Hellenic culture, cuisine, history, and traditions, particularly at a time when the parish is celebrating its 150 th anniversary, are nearing completion. Encompassing the sesquicentennial celebration, Holy Trinity Cathedral children will share with the New Orleans community their heritage through skits, exhibits, dances, and crafts. What better way to celebrate the past than to feature the ambassadors of the future, our children. The Education, Cultural, and Youth Ministries Committee encourages the entire Holy Trinity Cathedral family to support this endeavor. Vouchers, required for attendance, are available through the Cathedral office for members of Holy Trinity Cathedral. Also, a school bus will transport children from the community center. For more information, contact Steve Psarellis at 504-596-6777.

PHILOPTOCHOS MEMBERSHIP TRAY FOR HC-HC Each year our Philoptochos Elpis Society contributes to Hellenic College-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. On March 23, the third Sunday of Lent when the Veneration of the Holy Cross is observed, Philoptochos will pass a tray for HC-HC. In our church, as in over 400 Philoptochos chapters across the country, this Lenten event will be used to raise funds to support the school s operational expenses. Since 2003 the National Philoptochos Society has given HC-HC $716,000 for capital improvements in addition to over one million dollars for scholarships. We thank you for responding to the needs of our students and for your continued support. MARDI GRAS BEADS FOR ARC Philoptochos and GOYA are collecting Mardi Gras beads. Probably, the very best way to recycle your beads is to let them help others through ARC of Greater New Orleans. ARC uses donated beads and other parade items in its vocational training program. ARC is a local non-profit that provides opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to develop and live to their fullest potential. The nonprofit serves about 1000 adults and children in the New Orleans area. ARC packages and sells the donated beads and other throws to float-riders next year. The collection box for donated beads is in the Coffee Room. HELLENIC DANCERS The Hellenic Dancers practices are underway in preparation for the upcoming annual Greek Festival. Resurrection Apolytikion Plagal Tone 1 Let us worship the Word, O ye faithful, praising Him that with the Father and the Spirit is cobeginningless God, Who was born of a pure Virgin that we all be saved; for He was pleased to mount the Cross in the flesh that He assumed, accepting thus to endure death. And, by His glorious rising, He also willed to resurrect the dead. Apolytikion of St. Gregory Palamas Plagal Tone 4 O Gregory the Miracle Worker, light of Orthodoxy, support and teacher of the Church, comeliness of Monastics, invincible defender of theologians, the pride of Thessalonica, and preacher of grace, intercede forever that our souls may be saved. Apolytikion of the Holy Trinity Plagal Tone 4 Blessed are You, O Christ our God, who made fishermen all-wise, sending upon them the Holy Spirit and, through them, netting the world. O Loving One, glory to You. Kontakion Plagal Tone 4 To you, the Champion Leader, we your servants dedicate hymns of victory and thanksgiving as ones rescued out of sufferings, O Theotokos. Since you are invincible in power, deliver us from all dangers, so that we may cry to you: Rejoice, O Unwedded Bride.

THE EPISTLE St. Paul's Letter to the Hebrews 1:10-14; 2:1-3 You, O Lord, shall keep us and preserve us. Verse: Save me, O Lord, for the godly man has failed. "IN THE BEGINNING, you O Lord, didst found the earth, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment, like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years will never end." But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet?" Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation? Therefore we must pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. For if the message declared by angels was valid and every transgression or disobedience received a just retribution, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard him. THE GOSPEL Mark 2: 1-12 At that time, Jesus entered Capernaum and it was reported that he was at home. And many were gathered together, so that there was no longer room for them, not even about the door; and he was preaching the word to them. And they came, bringing to him a paralytic carried by four men. And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him; and when they had made an opening, they let down the pallet on which the paralytic lay. And when Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "My son, your sins are forgiven." Now some of the scribes were sitting there, questioning in their hearts, "Why does this man speak thus? It is a blasphemy! Who can forgive sins but God alone?" And immediately Jesus, perceiving in his spirit that they thus questioned within themselves, said to them, "Why do you question thus in your hearts? Which is easier, to say to the paralytic, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise, take up your pallet and walk? But that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins"-he said to the paralytic-"i say to you, rise, take up your pallet and go home." And he rose, and immediately took up the pallet and went out before them all; so that they were all amazed and glorified God, saying, "We never saw anything like this!"
