But we have this treasure in earthen vessels to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. And he said to him "You have answered right; do this and you will live." But he desiring to justify himself said to Jesus "And who is my neighbor?" Jesus replied "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and he fell among robbers who stripped him and beat him and departed leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite when he came to the place and saw him passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan as he journeyed came to where he was; and when he saw him he had compassion and went to him and bound up his wounds pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn and took care of him. And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper saying 'Take care of him; and whatever more you spend I will repay you when I come back.' Everyone is welcome in the Orthodox Church and may receive the blessed bread (antidoron) at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy. Sadly the divisions in the church prompt us all to work towards reunited Christianity. The culmination of this reunion will be the ability of all Christians to receive the Eucharist together. Until that blessed day arrives Orthodox Christians who are in good sacramental order are only permitted to receive Holy Communion in the Orthodox Church. This change will mean that we will no longer receive the list of Orthodox patients in the hospital. The Peabody Clergy and Ministerial Association comprised of clergy from Catholic Protestant Orthodox and Jewish communities of Peabody invite you to gather in prayers and hymns of thanksgiving in anticipation of our national day of Thanksgiving. The service will be followed by refreshments. All are welcome to come. You may bring non-perishable food items which will be given to food pantries in the city.
