2 PICTORAL DIRECTORY A limited number of pictorial directories are available for purchase in the Parish Office during regular business hours. Cost is $20.00 If you had your picture taken for the new pictorial directory, you can pick up your copy of the directory in the parish office during regular business hours. Sack Lunches The next Sack Lunch Sunday will be June 24th. Sign up sheets are in the foyer. The sack lunches will be distributed to the hungry of Denver by Volunteers of America. ADORATION During June, July and August we will have Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of the month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the church. The Meditation Room is available for Eucharistic Adoration during parish office hours or with fob access. You are invited to attend Faith Day at Coors Field on Sunday, July 29 The Colorado Rockies will take on the Oakland Athletics at 1:10 p.m. Following the game there will be a concert by PASSION. Tickets are only $ We will be sitting in section U329. Don t miss this opportunity to enjoy a day at the ballpark with one of the best bands in contemporary Christian music! See the order form below. Orders are due by July 10. We only have 30 tickets reserved so get your orders in ASAP. Young Adult Summer Bible Study Crossroads What does it mean to have a relationship with God? Could He really love someone like me? What does a life lived in Christ look like? Crossroads is a summer Bible study for college-aged Catholics that explores these questions and more. 3 Pilgrimage Plans are underway for our next parish pilgrimage, In the footsteps of St. Paul, A Spiritual Journey to Greece which will take place May 7-18, This 12 day pilgrimage includes a 3 night Greek Isle Cruise. This week $1,020 will be given to Outreach. Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time This section from Mark may be my favorite part of the entire New Testament. I ve never seen the unfolding of our lives expressed more beautifully than when Jesus offers his brilliant analogy of the secret seed (4: 26-29). This is how the kingdom of God is built: with daily kindness and graciousness, with the unrecognized nurture of parents and teachers, with ethical decisions that others take note of but never mention. Evening comes, and morning follows, year after year. And one day a person you don t remember takes you aside in an airport and says, I ll never forget what you said to me that day. It changed my life. Or maybe one day, after years of struggle, you sit down and play a Mozart sonata with beauty and ease. Or maybe your daily Spanish tutorial finally pays off when you can converse with---or at least understand a conversation with---those nice people in the parish whom you ve been smiling at for ages. Or maybe your skinny jeans FINALLY fit. Or maybe you finally throw them away and stop measuring your right to live by whether you can wear them or not. Now THAT S the kingdom of God, for sure. My favorite line occurs after the farmer scatters seed on the land, and sleeps and rises, day after day, and the seed, without him doing anything else, sprouts and grows. How? He does not know. Take fathers, for example. No child consciously decides which of his traits she ll carry into the world. But studies show that his day-to-day presence and strength will help form her into a confident woman. How? She does not know. But such is the kingdom of God. Three brilliant African-American women at NASA -- Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson -- serve as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race and galvanized the world. VBS Volunteer Opportunities (for Adults and those going into 7th 12th Grade) If you are available the week of July from 8:30am - 12:30pm we are in need volunteers to help make VBS a success and would love to have your help! Available positions are: small group leaders, bible story leaders, craft leaders, music leaders and game leaders. We could also use assistance with set up on Sunday, July 22 and clean up on Friday, July 27. Volunteer forms will be available at Youth Group, in the office and in the foyer. Some positions fill up fast so get your form turned in to Mary Ann as soon as possible if you d like to help out. Babysitters The Nursery will be closed during the summer months. If you are a teenager who has taken a babysitter training class and would like to work or volunteer in our nursery during the 10:15 a.m. Mass this fall, please contact Michele Weber. COTM is responsible for feeding approximately 120 adults on the third Sat. of each month at the soup kitchen sponsored by St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church on the Auraria campus. Our next opportunity for youth and adults to serve will be Sat. July 21. We are in need of canned potatoes, carrots, diced tomatoes and mixed vegetables to make the soup. The soup kitchen is also in need of cases of bottled water, men s socks, underwear, sweats, hats, undershirts, weather appropriate clothing, backpacks, multi-vitamins, small paper plates, plastic spoons, macaroni, rice, pasta (not spaghetti), plastic grocery bags, individual bags of chips and cookies. If you would be able to donate any of these items or if you are in 6th -12th grade or an adult and would like to volunteer your time or if you would like to make soup Mary Ann or drop your donations off at the parish office. If you are interested in volunteering please note that we serve OUTSIDE in the alley behind St. E s. You must be comfortable standing for 2 1/2 hours.

5 VBS Splash Vacation Bible School July 23rd July 27th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon each day. Open to children 4 years old - to those entering 6th grade in the fall of Cost is $35/child which includes a daily snack, craft & CD with the music for the week. Registration is now open in the parish office. Space is Limited! Items Needed! We re going to strap on our life jackets and get ready for a rip-roaring river ride with Splash : God's Promise on Life's Wild Ride. Items are needed to transform the JDM hall into our river rafting adventure land. If you have any of the following items that we can borrow please drop them off during parish office hours or contact Mary Ann to arrange an alternate time: Kayaks, Oars/Paddles, Rubber Rafts, Life Jackets, Life Preserver Rings/Inner-tubes, Large Logs (to sit on), Home Depot type 5 Gallon Buckets, Blue, Gray, Brown, White or Black Sheets/Fabric, Stuffed Animals: Trout, Otters, Birds, Ducks, Geese, Fox, Raccoons, Squirrels, Skunks, and Large Appliance Size Cardboard Boxes. Please label your items with your name so that we can return them to you after VBS. Thanks! Growing With Jesus When you lie, you are teaching others not to believe you. You are treating others as fools. It s like you are secretly convinced that they will never be smart enough to find you out. Worse still, you will have to tell more lies to cover the first lie. Worst of all, when you lie, you are destroying yourself from the inside out. No one can be truly happy and be a liar at the same time. It s impossible. You can t be truly happy when you can t respect yourself. Lying may get you out of something for the moment, but it will turn on you in the end. Today: Tell the truth.
