ADORATION During June, July and August we will have Eucharistic Adoration on the First Friday of the month from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the church. The Meditation Room is available for Eucharistic Adoration during parish office hours or with fob access. You are invited to attend Faith Day at Coors Field on Sunday, July 29 The Colorado Rockies will take on the Oakland Athletics at 1:10 p.m. Following the game there will be a concert by PASSION. Jesus lays down his life for our redemption, martyrs remain faithful to the end, and every believer faces "deaths" in the spiritual life when love requires a re-ordering of preference and priority. On Memorial Day, we honor those who laid down their lives for their nation and for the values we espouse - freedom, justice, and a better world for our children. In a day that often fills with barbeques and boat launches, remember to take some time in prayer! Intercede for those who have died and for the loved ones they left behind, and pray for peace on earth. 3 Pilgrimage Plans are underway for our next parish pilgrimage, In the footsteps of St. Paul, A Spiritual Journey to Greece which will take place May 7-18, This 12 day pilgrimage includes a 3 night Greek Isle Cruise. This week $849 will be given to Outreach. Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity It s the Solemnity of the Holy Trinity, and once again time to reflect on the Power of Three. I learned recently that the triangle is the most powerful geometric shape in the world. Any added force is evenly spread through all three sides. Bridges and buildings that must carry a lot of weight have structural elements built on triangles. Doesn t that remind you of the Trinity? The love of the Father, the grace and peace of the Son, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit are all strong in equal measure. Imagine living with only two of those, and not the third. We need every side of the Trinity to strengthen us every day. Fiction writers know that the strongest stories involve three main characters to give an uneven, off-kilter tension. Gone with the Wind needs Scarlet, Rhett, and Ashley Wilkes to give it its Greek tragedy contour. What would Harry Potter be without Harry, Hermione, and Ron traveling together through Hogwarts? And then there are music groups. Let s see. There s the Andrews Sisters, the Hansons, the Kingston Trio and the Supremes. I ll bet you can think of many more. (I think we talked about the Three Tenors last year.) The Olympics give medals in gold, silver and bronze. When we think of the future we say we are optimistic, pessimistic, or average. Our pain levels are high, medium, or low. The three primary colors are red, yellow and blue. The most basic harmony in music involves the third note in the scale. The concept of the Holy Trinity speaks to us because it s in our DNA (another three) here on planet earth, which is, of course, the third rock from the sun. May 30 Movies with a Message COCO (PG) Despite his family's generations-old ban on music, young Miguel dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel's family history. We ll meet from 6:30 9:00 p.m. to allow time to watch and discuss the movie. Wed. June 13 Youth Group Summer Kick - Off Join us for Ice Cream and Ultimate 7-8:30 p.m. Catholic Youth Day at WATER WORLD will take place Wednesday, July 11, We ll meet at COTM at 8:45 a.m. and return at 6:45 p.m. RSVP with release form and payment by June 27. Cost is $28.00 STEUBENVILLE OF THE ROCKIES 2018 High School Conference A parent and participant meeting will be held on Wed. June 13 at 6:00 p.m. in the Joe Downs Memorial Hall. Babysitters The Nursery will be closed during the summer months. If you are a teenager who has taken a babysitter training class and would like to work or volunteer in our nursery during the 10:15 a.m. Mass this fall, please contact Michele Weber. VBS Volunteer Opportunities (for Adults and those going into 7th 12th Grade) If you are available the week of July from 8:30am 12:30pm we are in need volunteers to help make VBS a success and would love to have your help! Available positions are; small group leaders, bible story leaders, craft leaders, music leaders and game leaders. We could also use assistance with set up on Sunday, July 22nd and clean up on Friday, July 27th. Volunteer forms will be available at Youth Group, in the office and in the foyer. Some positions fill up fast so get your form turned in to Mary Ann as soon as possible if you d like to help out. COTM is responsible for feeding approximately 120 adults on the third Sat. of each month at the soup kitchen sponsored by St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church on the Auraria campus. Our next opportunity for youth and adults to serve will be Sat. July 21. (Our June date has been filled.) We are in need of canned potatoes, carrots, diced tomatoes and mixed vegetables to make the soup. The soup kitchen is also in need of cases of bottled water, men s socks, underwear, sweats, hats, undershirts, weather appropriate clothing, backpacks, multi-vitamins, small paper plates, plastic spoons, macaroni, rice, pasta (not spaghetti), plastic grocery bags, individual bags of chips and cookies. If you would be able to donate any of these items or if you are in 6th -12th grade or an adult and would like to volunteer your time or if you would like to make soup Mary Ann or drop your donations off at the parish office. If you are interested in volunteering please note that we serve OUTSIDE in the alley behind St. E s. You must be comfortable standing for 2 1/2 hours. 5 VBS Splash Vacation Bible School July 23rd July 27th from 9:00 a.m. to Noon each day. Open to children 4 years old - to those entering 6th grade in the fall of Cost is $35/child which includes a daily snack, craft & CD with the music for the week. Registration will open on May 30th in the parish office. We will also have registration in the foyer after all Masses on June 2nd and 3rd. Space is Limited! Items Needed! We re going to Strap on our life jackets and get ready for a rip-roaring river ride with Splash : God's Promise on Life's Wild Ride. Items are needed to transform the JDM hall into our river rafting adventure land. If you have any of the following items that we can borrow please drop them off during parish office hours or contact Mary Ann to arrange an alternate time: Kayaks, Oars/Paddles, Rubber Rafts, Life Jackets, Life Preserver Rings/Inner-tubes, Large Logs (to sit on), Home Depot type 5 Gallon Buckets, Blue, Gray, Brown, White or Black Sheets/Fabric, Stuffed Animals: Trout, Otters, Birds, Ducks, Geese, Fox, Raccoons, Squirrels, Skunks, and Large Appliance Size Cardboard Boxes. Please label your items with your name so that we can return them to you after VBS. Thanks! Growing With Jesus Did you know that everyone wears glasses? Oh, you can t always see them. These are the glasses through which you see the world, yourself, events, and others. Some wear distrusting glasses. Some wear bitter glasses. Others wear party glasses - they see life as one big party where they can behave wildly. Others wear I m better than everyone else glasses (these, by the way, make you blind to all the wonderfully fascinating people you might have gotten to know). God says, Wear love, praise, and purity glasses. These will help you see (experience) things from an attitude of love, praise for God, purity and truth.
