Special General Assembly February 21st Please mark your calendar for a Special General Assembly for a Capital Improvement Project. This project is for the replacement of the Church windows and stained glass. It will be held on Sunday, February 21 st immediately following the Divine Liturgy at the Banquet Centre. All members are encouraged to participate; details have been sent to the members by mail. We would like to remind you that according to the Community By-laws you must have paid the 2015 & 2016 membership dues in order to have the right to express an opinion or vote at the General Assembly. The Jeanne Rosemary Georgiles Foundation Scholarship - Academic year 2015-2016 The foundation provides two scholarships of $1,000 each to students who have graduated from High School (Grade 12) in 2015 and entered University as full time students. On Every Branch a Piece of Cloth An elderly person was once sitting next to a young man on a train. He noticed that the young man was extremely troubled about something. He was constantly twitching his fingers and showing other signs of nervousness. The elderly man ventured to open conversation with him whereupon he learned that this young man had once left home under unfavorable conditions, much like the lost son of the Bible. He was now returning home to his mother. Weeks ago, he explained, I wrote my mother, telling her that I felt sorry for all I had done, and that I wanted to come home to stay with her. I told her that if she wanted me back, to place a white cloth on one of the branches of the tree that is in our backyard. The train, you see, goes by our house. If I see that white cloth, I will get off at the station; if I don t I will just have to stay on. We are approaching my backyard now, he said, but I just can t bear to look at that tree for fear that I will see it empty. I am so afraid that she didn t receive my letter or that she forgot to put the cloth out. Would you look for me? asked the young man as he buried his face in his hands. Surely, replied the elderly man and just at that moment the train went by his home. Get your bags ready, said his friend. You are getting off at the station. There s not just one piece of cloth on that tree but every branch has a white cloth on it! That is the welcome that awaits us when we repent and return to the Father as did the prodigal son. Ο ηλικιωμένος άντρας παρατήρησε ότι ο νέος ήταν εξαιρετικά ταραγμένος, σημάδι ότι κάτι τον απασχολούσε πολύ. Έτριβε τα χέρια του κι έδειχνε και άλλα σημάδια νευρικότητας. Ο ηλικιωμένος τόλμησε να ανοίξει συζήτηση μαζί του, οπότε έμαθε ότι ο νεαρός είχε φύγει, κάποτε, από το σπίτι του κάτω από αντίξοες συνθήκες, σαν τον άσωτο υιό της Αγίας Γραφής και ότι τώρα επέστρεφε στο σπίτι και στη μητέρα του. «Πριν από μερικές εβδομάδες» εξήγησε ο νεαρός «έγραψα στη μητέρα μου λέγοντάς της ότι είμαι μετανιωμένος για ό,τι έκανα και ότι θέλω να επιστρέψω στο σπίτι μας και να μείνω μαζί της. Της έγραψα πως, αν με ήθελε πίσω, να τοποθετήσει ένα λευκό πανί σε ένα από τα κλαδιά του δέντρου που είναι στον κήπο μας. Αυτό το τρένο περνάει από το σπίτι μας. Εάν δω το λευκό πανί στο κλαδί θα κατεβώ στο σταθμό εάν όχι, θα συνεχίσω το ταξίδι. Τώρα πλησιάζουμε στο σπίτι μου αλλά δεν αντέχω να κοιτάξω το δέντρο γιατί φοβάμαι πως θα δω άδεια τα κλαδιά του. Φοβάμαι πολύ πως ίσως, η μητέρα μου δεν έλαβε το γράμμα μου ή ότι ξέχασε να δέσει το πανί στο κλαδί του δέντρου.
