PWR SECTION OPTIONAL UNIT INSTALLATION Install UT-9R or UT-R as follows. q Disassembly the repeater until the MAIN UNIT is exposed. (See the page -) w Modify the patterns on the MAIN UNIT as below. <MAIN UNIT (bottom side)> A and F; Cut the pattern B; Short the pattern e Remove the protective paper of optional unit, and install it to the J as below. r Replace the cover, screws, etc. to recover the whole assembly. NOTE: When uninstalling the scrambler unit Be sure to recover the disconnected or connected points, otherwise no modulation or AF output is available. -
SECTION CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION - RECEIVER CIRCUITS RF BPF CIRCUITS signals from the antenna connector (J) are passed through the st stage of BPF (D, 9,,, L, ) then amplified by the RF AMP (Q). The amplified signals are passed through the nd stage of BPF (D, 9,,, L, ) to remove unwanted signals for good image response then applied to the st mixer (L,, D). Being mixed with st LO signals from the VCO, the signals are converted into the. MHz st IF signal. The st and nd stage of the BPFs are tuned to the pass band frequency by tracking voltage T and T from the DAC (IC). The gain of low noise RF AMP (Q) is controlled by the AGC circuit (Q9, D) according to the signal strength. IF FILTER/IF AMP CIRCUITS The st IF signal from the st mixer (L,, D) is amplifi ed by the buffer AMP (Q,, ) and st stage of IF AMP (Q9) then fi ltered by crystal fi lter (FI or FI), and then applied to the IF IC (IC). The crystal fi lters (FI or FI) are switched by the NWC signal from the CPU (IC) according to the mode; Wide (Middle), Narrow or Digital. <ANALOG > Being mixed with the nd LO, the st IF signal is converted into the khz nd IF signal. The nd IF signal is passed through the external ceramic filter (FI or FI), then FMdemodulated by the internal quadrature detector with discriminator (X). The demodulated AF signals are amplifi ed by the AF AMP (IC), and applied to the LINER CODEC (IC). The AF signals are converted into the digital audio signal then processed by the DSP (IC) then recovered to the analog audio signals. The ceramic filter (FI or FI) is switched by the NWC signal from the CPU (IC) according to the mode; Wide (Middle), Narrow or Digital. - TRANSMITTER CIRCUITS MODULATION CIRCUITS The demodulated signals are applied to the MIC AMP (IC). The amplified Demodulated signals are passed through the SW IC (IC) which selects the source of Demodulated signals from J (from MIC) and from D-SUB connector (DEXM). The Demodulated signals from the SW IC are amplifi ed by an AMP (IC) then applied to the LINEAR CODEC IC (IC) where the Demodulated signals are converted in to the digital audio signals. The converted digital audio signals are processed (preemphasis, limit, etc.) by the DSP (IC), then recovered to the analog audio signals by LINER CODEC IC (IC). The AF signals are amplifi ed by IC and level-adjusted by Electronic VR (IC), then applied to the VCO and TCXO (X) as the modulation signals. SIGNALING (ENCODE) The Continious Tone (CTCSS/DTCS), Single Tone (-Tone/ DTMF/CW_ID) signals are encoded, and mixed with Demodulated signals in the DSP (IC). YGR/PA CIRCUITS The output signals from VCOs are amplified to the level required for the PA module by pre-amps (Q, ), then amplified by the PA module (IC) to obtain output power. The power-amplified signal is passed through the ANT SW (D) and LPF (for harmonics removal) then applied to the antenna. APC CIRCUIT D, D and D9 detect the power, and the detected voltage is applied to the IC in APC circuit. Comparing the detected voltage which is in proportion to the power and power setting voltage as the reference voltage, IC adjusts the bias voltage of PA module (pin : VGG terminal) and pre- AMP (Q) to control the power. <DIGITAL > The khz nd IF signal is amplifi ed by IC then applied to the DSP (IC) via ADC (IC9), and digital-demodulated. The processed digital signal is converted into the analog audio signal by the LINEAR CODEC (IC). AF AMPLIFIER CIRCUITS The AF signals from the LINEAR CODEC are amplifi ed by the AF AMP (IC) and level-adjusted by DAC (IC), then applied to IC via IC9 to be power-amplifi ed. SIGNALING (DECODE) The Continious Tone (CTCSS/DTCS), Single Tone (-Tone/ DTMF/CW_ID) signals in the demodulated AF signals are decoded in the DSP (IC). -
- FREQUENCY SYNTHESIZER CIRCUITS PLL CIRCUIT The PLL IC (IC) outputs resulting signal; phase-comparison of reference signal (. MHz) from the TCXO (X) and fedback OSC signal from the VCO. The phase-difference signal is passed through the active loop fi lter (Q, ) and applied to the VCO as the lock voltage. The voltage of LV (lock voltage) is adjusted to appropriate one by LVA signal. A portion of reference frequency signal (. MHz) from the TCXO (X) is passed through the tripler (Q) to extract rd harmonic, then applied to the IF IC (IC). VCO There are VCOs; VCO for lower band (Q, D,, L) and higher band (Q, D,, L), and these VCOs (=OSC freq.) are switched by the VCO SW (Q, ). The OSC frequencies of these VCOs are adjusted (=Locked) to desired one by the LV signal (Lock Voltage). The output signals of these VCOs are applied to the st mixer (L,, D) via buffer (Q). A portion of output signal from the buffer (Q) is applied to the doubler (Q) to extract nd harmonic, then applied to the PLL IC (IC) via the LPF. PLL CIRCUIT PLL IC (IC) outputs resulting signal; phase-comparison of reference signal (. MHz) from the TCXO (X) and fedback OSC signal from the VCO. The phase-difference signal from the PLL IC (IC) is passed through the active loop fi lter (Q, ) and applied to the VCO as the lock voltage. The rock voltage LV is adjusted to appropriate one by the LVA signal. The OSC signal of TCXO (X) is FMmodulated by applied modulation signals. - OTHER CIRCUITS POWER SUPPLY The power supply is switched by Q (ON/OFF). V (REF) from the regulator (IC) is passed through L to supply to CPU. The V also supplies to other sections of the repeater via Q as +V. from the regulator (IC) are supplies to various circuits, and also supplies to circuits as T and circuits as. V from the regulator (IC9) supplies DSP as DSP and supplies logic circuits; CPU, DSP, etc. via regulators (IC,, ). The regulator F (IC) provides the supply for FRONT UNIT. COMPANDER The compander in the DSP (IC) compresses the amplitude of Demodulated signals in, and expands in to provide high quality, high S/N ratio recovered sounds. LEDs DS (BUSY), DS(PWR) and DS () indicate the repeater s status: Power ON, T/ and Cloning. VCO CIRCUITS There are VCOs; VCO for lower band (Q, D,, L) and higher band (Q, D9,, L), and these VCOs (=OSC frequencies) are switched by the VCO SW (Q, ). The OSC frequencies of these VCO are adjusted (=Locked) to desired one by the LV signal (Lock Voltage). The modulation signals applied to the Variable Capacitor (VD; D or D) vary the capacitor reactance of it for FM modulation. The output signals of these VCOs are applied to the YGR/PA circuits via buffers (Q, ). A portion of these output signal is passed through the doubler (Q) to extract nd harmonic, then applied to the PLL IC (IC) via the LPF. -
