TWO-DIMENSIONAL LEFT RIGHT UNITAL ALGEBRAS OVER ALGEBRAICALLY CLOSED FIELDS AND R HAHMED UBEKBAEV IRAKHIMOV 3 arxiv:7673v [mathra] 9 Dec 7 Department of Math Faculty of Science UPM Selangor Malaysia & Depart of Math Faculty of Science Taiz University Taiz Yemen Department of Science in Engineering Faculty of Engineering IIUM Malaysia 3 Institute for Mathematical Research INSPEM UPM Serdang Selangor Malaysia Abstract The descriptions up to isomorphism of all two-dimensional left right unital algebras over algebraically closed fields and R are given Introduction The principal building blocks of our descriptions are derived from[ 4] as the authors have presented complete lists of isomorphism classes of all two-dimensional algebras over algebraically closed fields and R providing the lists of canonical representatives of their structure constant s matrices We will speak of a unity element and unital algebras rather than identity element and algebras with identity The latest lists of all unital associative algebras in dimension two three four and five are available in [] [] [6] and [9] respectively The lists of all associative algebras both unital and non-unital in dimension two and three are presented in [5 ] In this paper we describe the isomorphism classes of two-dimensional leftright unital algebras over arbitrary algebraically closed field and R Our approach is totally different than that of [ ] We consider leftright unital algebras over algebraically closed fields of characteristic not 3 characteristic characteristic 3 and over R separately according to classification results of [ 4] To the best knowledge of authors the descriptions of leftright unital two-dimensional algebras over algebraically closed fields and R have not been obtained yet Preliminaries Let F be any field A B stand for the Kronecker product a ij B where A = a ij B are matrices over F Let A be m-dimensional algebra over F and e = e e e m its basis Then the bilinear map is represented by a matrix A = A k ij Mm m ;F as follows u v = eau v for u = euv = ev where T stands for the transpose u = u u u m T and v = v v v m T are column coordinate vectors of u and v respectively The matrix A Mm m ;F defined above is called the matrix of structural constants MSC of A with respect to the basis e Further we assume that a basis e is fixed and we do not make a difference between the algebra A and its MSC A see [3] s: houida m7@yahoocom; bekbaev@iiumedumy; 3 rakhimov@upmedumy
HAHMED UBEKBAEV IRAKHIMOV 3 If e = e e e m is another basis of A e g = e with g G = GLm;F and A is MSC of A with respect to e then it is known that A = gag is valid Thus the isomorphism of algebras A and B over F given above now can be rewritten as follows Definition Two m-dimensional algebras A B over F given by their matrices of structure constants A B are said to be isomorphic if B = gag holds true for some g GLm;F Definition An element L R of an algebra A is called a left respectively right unity if L u = u respectively u R = u for all u A Definition 3 An algebra A is said to be unital if it has a left and right unity = L = R called a unity such that u = u = u for all u A Further we consider only the case m = and for the simplicity we use α α A = α 3 α 4 β β β 3 β 4 for MSC where α α α 3 α 4 β β β 3 β 4 stand for any elements of F Due to [] we have the following classification theorems according to CharF 3 CharF = and CharF = 3 cases respectively Theorem 4 Over an algebraically closed field F CharF and 3 any non-trivial -dimensional algebra is isomorphic to only one of the following algebras listed by their matrices of structure constants: α α A c = α + α 4 where c = α α α 4 β F 4 β α α + α α α A c = where c = α β β F 3 β β α β β α A 3 c = where c = β β F β β α A 4 c = where c = α β F β α α A 5 c = where c = α F α α α α A 6 c = where c = α β F β α α β α α A 7 c = where c = β F β α A 8 c = where c = α F α α A 9 = 3 3 A = A = 3 A =
TWO-DIMENSIONAL LEFT RIGHT UNITAL ALGEBRAS OVER ALGEBRAICALLY CLOSED FIELDS AND R 3 Theorem 5 Over an algebraically closed field F CharF = any non-trivial -dimensional algebra is isomorphic to only one of the following algebras listed by their matrices of structure constants: α α A c = α + α 4 where c = α α α 4 β F 4 β α α + α α A c = where c = α β β F 3 β β α A 3 c = where c = β β F β β α A 4 c = where c = α β F β α α A 5 c = where c = α F α α A 6 c = where c = α β F β α α α A 7 c = where c = α F α α α A 8 c = where c = α F α α A 9 = A = A = A = Theorem 6 Over an algebraically closed field F CharF = 3 any non-trivial -dimensional algebra is isomorphic to only one of the following algebras listed by their matrices of structure constant matrices: α α A 3 c = α + α 4 where c = α α α 4 β F 4 β α α + α α α A 3 c = where c = α β β F 3 β β α β β α A 33 c = where c = β β F β β α A 43 c = where c = α β F β α α A 53 c = where c = α F α α α α A 63 c = where c = α β F β α α β α α A 73 c = where c = β F β α A 83 c = where c = α F α α
4 HAHMED UBEKBAEV IRAKHIMOV 3 A 93 = A 3 = A 3 = A 3 = 3 Two-dimensional algebras with left unity Recall that an algebra A has a left unity L if L u = u for all u A In terms of its MSC A the condition above is written as follows: 3 Al u = u where u = u u u m T and l = t t t m T are column coordinate vectors of u and L α α It is easy to see that for a given -dimensional algebra A with MSC A = α 3 α 4 the β β β 3 β 4 existence of a left unity element is equivalent to the equality of ranks rkm = rkm where α α 3 α α 3 β M = β 3 α α 4 β M = β 3 α α 4 β α β 4 α 3 β α β 4 α 3 This equality happens if and only if 3 β β 3 α α 4 = β β 3 β α β 4 α 3 = α α 4 β α β 4 α 3 = and at least one of the following two cases holds true: 33 α α 3 β β 3 = α α 4 = β α β 4 α 3 = or 34 α α 3 a b whenever there exists nonzero ab {β β 3 α α 4 β α β 4 α 3 } Note that whenever 3 and 33 happen the algebra has many left unities whenever 3 and 34 happen the algebra has only unique left unity Theorem 3 Over any algebraically closed field F characteristic not 3 any nontrivial -dimensional algebra with left unity is isomorphic to only one of the following algebras with left unity presented by their MSC A α α α β α α α β β = β α α β α α +β α 4α +α3 β +α β β β β α α β α α +α +β where β β A α α α + α +α = α +α α α A α α = where α α α + α A 4 α α = where α α α +
TWO-DIMENSIONAL LEFT RIGHT UNITAL ALGEBRAS OVER ALGEBRAICALLY CLOSED FIELDS AND R 5 A 6 = A 8 = α α Proof In A c = α + α 4 case M = β α α + α α α + β α α α 4 α α β α 4 α α = β α ++α α = α α ++α α 4 = and 33 doesn t occur There are two possibilities: Case β In this case 3 is equivalent to and α α + β α = β / Therefore α 4 = α α β α = α α β A α α α β α α β α β β where β has a left unity Case β = In this case 3 is equivalent to α α = α α = α α ++α α 4 = and 34 occurs if and only if α = and therefore A also has a left unity In A c = α β β α α α α + case M = α β α β α β = α β α = β α = 3 means 3 means and 33 doesn t occur Therefore A α α has a leftunity where α α β In A 3 c = case M = β β and β = which shows β the absence of left unity In A 4 c = α β α case M = α α β α 3 means α α β = and therefore A 4 has left unities In this case 34 happens if and only if α α = β So A 4 α α has a left unity where α
6 HAHMED UBEKBAEV IRAKHIMOV 3 InA 5 c = α α α case M = α α α 3 means α α = so α = But neither 33 no 34 occurs that is among A 5 α there is no algebra with a left unity α α β In A 6 c = case M = α β α α 3 means β = α α α = +α = and therefore A 6 has a left unity In A 7 c = β shows absence of left unity due to 3 In A 8 c = α α α case M = β case M = and the inequality α α α = 3 means α α = and therefore A 8 has a left unity It is easy to see that for A 9 A A 3 does not occur don t occur for A and therefore they have no left unities We present the corresponding results in characteristic and 3 cases without proof Theorem 3 Over any algebraically closed field F characteristic any nontrivial -dimensional algebra with left unity is isomorphic to only one of the following algebras with left unity presented by their MSC: α α A α α 4 = 4 where α α α α A α α = where α α α + α A 4 α α = where α A 7 = α α + A = Theorem 33 Over any algebraically closed field F characteristic 3 any nontrivial -dimensional algebra with left unity is isomorphic to only one of the following algebras with left unity presented by their MSC A 3 α α α β α α α β β = β α α β α α +β α 4α +α3 β +α β β β β α α β α α +α +β where β β A 3 α α α + α +α = α +α α
