1 A RADON NIKODYM TYPE THEOREM FOR n-tuples OF COMPLETELY POSITIVE MAPS MOHAMMAD SAL MOSLEHIAN, ANATOLY KUSRAEV, AND MARAT PLIEV arxiv: v1 [math.oa] 4 Aug 2016 Abstract. We prove an analogue of the Radon Nikodym type theorem for n-tuples of the completely positive maps on Hilbert C -modules. Our results are generalization of some results of the paper M. Joiţa [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 393 (2012), ]. 1. Introduction A linear map ϕ : A B of C -algebras is said to be positive, if ϕ(a a) 0, for all a A. An n n matrix (ϕ ij ) n i,j1 of linear maps from A to B can be regarded as a linear map [ϕ] : M n (A) M n (B) defined by [ϕ]((a ij ) n i,j1 ) (ϕ ij(a ij )) n i,j1 We say that [ϕ] is a completely n-positive linear map from A to B if [ϕ] is a completely positive linear map from M n (A) to M n (B). If (ϕ ij ) n i,j1 is a completely n-positive linear map from A to B, thenϕ ii is clearly a completely positive linear map from A to B for each i {1,...,n}; see [16]. Hilbert C -modules are generalizations of Hilbert spaces and C -algebras. A Hilbert C -module M over a C -algebra A (or a Hilbert A-module) is a linear space that is also a right A-module, equipped with an A-valued inner product, that is C-linear and A-linear in the second variable and y,x x,y (x,y M) such that A is complete with the norm x x,x 1 2. If the closed two-sided ideal M,M of A generated by { x,y : x,y M} coincides with A, we say that M is full. Given two Hilbert spaces H and K, the Banach space L(H,K) of all bounded linear operators from H to K has a canonical structure as a Hilbert C -module over L(H) with the right module action given by T S T S for T L(H,K) and S L(H) and the inner product given by T 1,T 2 T 1T 2 for all T 1,T 2 L(H,K). For general information on Hilbert C -modules the reader is referred to [9, 11]. A representation of M on the Hilbert spaces H and K is a map Π : M L(H,K) with the property that there is a -representation π of A on the Hilbert space H such that Π(x),Π(y) π( x,y ) for all x, y M. If M is full, then the -representation π associated to Π is unique. A representation Π : M L(H,K) of M is nondegenerate if 2010 Mathematics Subject Classification. Primary 46L08, 46L05. A map Φ : M L(H,K) is called completely positive on M if there is a completely positive linear map ϕ : A L(H) such that Φ(x),Φ(y) ϕ( x,y ) for all x,y M. Let M be a Hilbert C -module over A and let H,K be Hilbert spaces. Let Φ i, i {1,...,n} be maps Φ i : M L(H,K). A n-tuple [Φ] : (Φ 1,...,Φ n ) of maps Φ i : M L(H,K) is called completely positive, if there exists completely n-positive map [ϕ] from A to L(H) such that [Φ](x),[Φ](y) : ( Φ i (x),φ j (y) ) n i,j1 (ϕ ij x,y ) n i,j1 (1.1) for every x,y M. By CP n (M, L(H,K)) we denote the set of all n-tuples of completely positive maps from M to L(H, K). We need the following theorem for further considerations. Theorem 1.1. ([13, Theorem 2.1.]) Let A be a unital C -algebra and M be a Hilbert C -module over A. Let [ϕ] : A L(H) be an n-completely positive map and [Φ] (Φ 1,...,Φ n ), Φ i : M L(H,K), i {1,...,n} be [ϕ]-completely positive n-tuple. Then there exists a data (π Φ,H Φ,K Φ,S Φ 1,...,S Φ n,w Φ ), where H Φ,K Φ are Hilbert spaces; π Φ : M L(H Φ,K Φ ) is a representation of the module M onthe HilbertspacesH Φ and K Φ, whichassociatedwiththe -homomorphism π ϕ : A L(H Φ ), the maps S Φ i : H H Φ are isometric linear operators and W Φ : K K Φ is a coisometric linear operator such that: (1) ϕ ij (a) (S Φ i ) π ϕ (a)s Φ j for every a A, i,j {1,...,n}; (2) Φ i (x) (W Φ ) π Φ (x)s Φ i for every x M, i {1,...,n}; (3) H Φ [{π ϕ (A)S i (H) : i 1,...,n}]; (4) K Φ [{π Φ (M)S i (H) : i 1,...,n}]. We remark that in Theorem 1.1, n-maps W1 Φ,...,WΦ n are considered, but Theorem 1.1 remains true if instead W1 Φ,...,WΦ n we consider a single operator W Φ : K K Φ, where W Φ is a projection on the closed subspace K Φ. The data (π,h,k,s 1,...,S n,w) is called the Stinespring representation for ([ϕ],[φ]), if the conditions (1) (4) of Theorem 1.1 are satisfied. The data (π Φ,H Φ,K Φ,S1 Φ,...,SΦ n,wφ ) is an example of the Stinespring representation. Two Stinespring constructions (π k,h k,k k,s1,...,s k n,w k k ), k {1,2} are called unitarily equivalent, if there exist two unitary operators U 1 L(H 1,H 2 ) and U 2 L(K 1,K 2 ) such that U 2 π 1 (x) π 2 (x)u 1, Si 2 U 1 Si 1, U 2W 1 W 2 for every x M, i {1,...,n}; see [1, 3] and references therein. The study of completely positive maps is motivated by applications of the theory of completely positive maps to quantum information theory, where operator valued completely positive maps on C -algebras are used as a mathematical model for quantum operations and quantum probability. A completely positive mapϕ : A B ofc -algebrasisalinear mapwiththepropertythat[ϕ(a ij )] n i,j1 is a positive element in the C -algebra M n (B) for all positive matrices [(a ij )] n i,j1 in M n (A) and all n N. Stinespring [15] showed that a completely positive map
3 RADON NIKODYM TYPE THEOREM 3 ϕ : A L(H) is of the form ϕ( ) S π( )S, where π is a -representation of A on a Hilbert space K and S is a bounded linear operator from H to K. Today the theory of completely positive maps on Hilbert and Krein C -modules is a vast area of the modern analysis (see [3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12, 13, 14]). The aim of this note is to continue this line of investigations and prove the Radon Nikodym type theorem for a n-tuples of completely positive maps on Hilbert C -modules. Our results are generalization of some results of M. Joiţa [8]. 2. Results Consider a full Hilbert C -module M over a C -algebra A and Hilbert spaces H,K. Let [Φ],[Ψ] CP n (M, L(H,K)). We say that [Φ] (Φ 1,...,Φ n ) is equivalent [Ψ] (Ψ 1,...,Ψ n ), denoted by [Φ] [Ψ], if [Φ](x),[Φ](x) [Ψ](x),[Ψ](x) for every x M. We remark that the relation is an equivalence relation on CP n (M, L(H,K)). Lemma 2.1. Let A be a unital C -algebra and M be a full Hilbert C -module over A. Let H,K be Hilbert spaces and [Φ],[Ψ] CP n (M, L(H,K)). Then Ψ Φ if and only if the Stinespring constructions associated with Ψ and Φ are unitarily equivalent. Proof. Let Ψ Φ. We must prove that the Stinespring constructions of [Φ] and [Ψ] are unitary equivalent. Since for every x M we have ( Φ i (x),φ j (x) ) n i,j1 (ϕ ij x,x ) n i,j1 ( Ψ i (x),ψ j (x) ) n i,j1 for some completely n-positive map (ϕ ij ). By [6, Theorem 4.1.8], there exists unitary operator U 1 L(H Φ,H Ψ ) such that U 1 S Φ i S Ψ i for every i {1,...,n}. Observe that by [13] the elements Φ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Φ n (x ns )ξ ns ; x js M; ξ js H; 1 j n; 1 s m; m N,

Now we may write 2 Φ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Φ n (x ns )ξ ns m Φ i (x is )ξ is, i1 s,r1i,j1 s,r1i,j1 s,r1i,j1 m r1 Φ j (x jr )ξ jr j1 ξ is,φ i (x is ) Φ j (x jr )ξ jr ξ is,ϕ ij ( x is,x jr )ξ jr ξ is,ψ i (x is ) Ψ j (x jr )ξ jr Ψ i (x is )ξ is, i1 r1 j1 Ψ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Ψ j (x jr )ξ jr 2 Ψ n (x ns )ξ ns. Since the elements m Ψ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s m Ψ n (x ns )ξ ns are dense in the Hilbert space K Ψ, there exists a continuous linear operator U 2 : K Φ K Ψ defined by ) U 2 Φ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Φ n (x ns )ξ ns Ψ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Ψ n (x ns )ξ ns on a dense subspace of K Φ. Hence, it can be extended to the whole space K Φ and U 2 W Φ W Ψ. Letusprovethatforeveryx MtheequalityU 2 π Φ (x) π Ψ (x)u 1 holds. To this end, take x M. Then ) U 2 π Φ (x) π ϕ (a 1s )S1 Φ ξ 1s,..., π ϕ (a ns )Sn Φ ξ ns U 2 Φ i (xa 1s )ξ 1s,..., Ψ i (xa 1s )ξ 1s,..., ) Φ n (xa ns )ξ ns Ψ n (xa ns )ξ ns π Ψ (x) π ψ (a 1s )S1 Ψ ξ 1s,..., ) π ψ (a ns )Sn Ψ ξ ns π Ψ (x)u 1 π ϕ (a 1s )S1 Φ ξ 1s,..., ) π ϕ (a ns )Sn Φ ξ ns.
5 RADON NIKODYM TYPE THEOREM 5 Since linear continuous operators U 2 π Φ (x) and π Ψ (x)u 1 coincides on a dense subspaceofthespaceh Φ, theycoincides onthewholespaceandunitarilyequivalence of the Stinespring constructions is proved. On the other hand, assume that the Stinespring constructions of [Φ] and [Ψ] are unitarily equivalent. Take x M, i,j {1,...,n}. Then we may write Ψ i (x),ψ j (x) Ψ i (x) Ψ j (x) ( ) (W (W Ψ ) π Ψ (x)si Ψ Ψ ) π Ψ (x)sj Ψ ( ) (U2 (U 2 W Φ ) π Ψ (x)u 1 Si Φ W Φ ) π Ψ (x)u 1 Sj Φ ( ) (W (W Φ ) U2U 2 π Φ (x)si Φ Φ ) U2U 2 π Φ (x)sj Φ ( ) (W (W Φ ) π Φ (x)si Φ Φ ) π Φ (x)sj Φ Φ i (x) Φ j (x) Φ i (x),φ j (x). Thus [Ψ] [Φ] and the proof is completed. Let [Φ],[Ψ] CP n (M, L(H,K)). We say that [Φ] is dominated by [Ψ] and denote by [Φ] [Ψ], if ( Φ i (x),φ j (x) ) n i,j1 ( Ψ i(x),ψ j (x) ) n i,j1 for every x M. The following properties of the relation are evident: Φ Φ for every Φ CP n (M, L(H,K)); IfΦ 1 Φ 2,Φ 2 Φ 3 thenφ 2 Φ 3 foreveryφ 1,Φ 2,Φ 3 CP n (M, L(H,K)); If Φ Ψ and Ψ Φ then Ψ Φ for every Φ,Ψ CP n (M, L(H,K)). Let Π : M L(H,K) be a representation of M on Hilbert spaces H and K. The set Π(M) : {T N L(H K) : Π(x)T NΠ(x); Π(x) N TΠ(x) ; x M} is called the commutant of Π(M). We remark that by [2, Lemma 4.3], Π(M) is a C -algebra. In the case when the representation Π : M L(H,K) is nondegenerate, we have T π(a) and moreover, if T N Π(M), then the operator N is uniquely determined by T. Lemma 2.2. Let [Φ] CP n (M, L(H,K)) and let (π Φ,H Φ,K Φ,S1 Φ,...,SΦ n,wφ ) be the Stinespring construction associated with [Φ]. If the operator T N π(m) is positive, then there exists [Φ T N ] CP n (M, L(H,K)), defined by the formula ( [Φ T N ] (W Φ ) Nπ Φ (x) TS1 Φ,...,(WΦ ) Nπ Φ (x) ) TSn Φ Proof. For every x,y M we may write (Φ T N ) i (x) (Φ T N ) j (y) (S Φ i ) Tπ Φ (x) NW Φ (W Φ ) Nπ Φ (y) TS Φ j (S Φ i ) Tπ Φ (x) Nπ Φ (y) TS Φ j (S Φ i ) Tπ Φ (x) N Nπ Φ (y)s Φ j (S Φ i ) T 2 π ϕ ( x,y )S Φ j ϕ ijt 2( x,y ). Employing [6, Lemma 4.2.2] we deduce that [ϕ T 2] (ϕ ijt 2) n ij is completely n- positive map from A to L(H) and therefore [Φ T N ] CP n (M, L(H,K)).
6 6 MOHAMMAD SAL MOSLEHIAN, ANATOLY KUSRAEV, AND MARAT PLIEV The following noncommutative version of the Radon Nikodym theorem is the main result of this article. Theorem 2.3. Let [Φ],[Ψ] CP n (M, L(H,K)) and [Ψ] [Φ]. Then there exists a unique positive linear operator Φ Ψ (πφ (M) ) such that [Ψ] [Φ Ψ Φ]. Proof. Take the Stinespring constructions (π Φ,H Φ,K Φ,S Φ 1,...,S Φ n,w Φ ) and also (π Ψ,H Ψ,K Ψ,S Ψ 1,...,SΨ n,wψ ) associated with [Φ] and [Ψ], respectively. If [Ψ] [Φ], then [ψ] [φ] and by utilizing [6, Lemma 4.2.5] there exists a linear continuous operator R : H Φ H Ψ such that R π ϕ (a 1s )S1 Φ ξ 1s,..., ) π ϕ (a ns )Sn Φ ξ ns π ψ (a 1s )S1 Ψ ξ 1s,..., π ψ (a ns )Sn Ψ ξ ns where x M, a is A, ξ is H, 1 i n, 1 s m, m N. Moreover R 1 and π ψ (a) π ϕ R R (a) for every a A. We have Ψ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s m 2 Ψ n (x ns )ξ ns Ψ i (x is )ξ is, i1 s,r1i,j1 s,r1i,j1 s,r1i,j1 s,r1i,j1 m r1 j1 Ψ j (x jr )ξ jr ξ is,ψ i (x is ) Ψ j (x jr )ξ jr ξ is,ψ ij ( x is,x jr )ξ jr ξ is,ϕ ij ( x is,x jr )ξ jr ξ is,φ i (x is ) Φ j (x jr )ξ jr Φ i (x is )ξ is, i1 r1 Φ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Φ j (x jr )ξ jr j1 2 Φ n (x ns )ξ ns. Since the elements m Φ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s m Φ n (x ns )ξ ns are dense in the space K Φ, we deduce that there exists a unitary operator Q : K Φ K Ψ such that Q Φ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s ) Φ n (x ns )ξ ns Ψ 1 (x 1s )ξ 1s Ψ n (x ns )ξ ns

Taking into account that the sums Φ 1 (ya 1s )ξ 1s + + Φ(ya ns )ξ ns
8 8 MOHAMMAD SAL MOSLEHIAN, ANATOLY KUSRAEV, AND MARAT PLIEV are dense in the Hilbert space K Φ we deduce that π Ψ (x) Q Rπ Φ (x). Wedefine theoperator Φ Ψ by Φ Ψ 1 2, where 1 R R and 2 Q Q. For every x M the following equalities hold: 2 π Φ (x) Q Qπ Φ (x) Q π Ψ (x)r π Φ (x)r R π Φ (x) 1. The same equalities are true for the adjoint operator as π Φ (x) 2 π Φ (x) Q Q R π Ψ (x) Q R Rπ Φ (x) 1 π Φ (x). Hence, Φ Ψ (πφ (M) ) and 0 Φ Ψ 1. The same calculations as in the Lemma 2.2 for every x M give us equalities Hence, we deduce (Φ ) Ψ i (x),(φ ) Φ Ψ j (x) (Φ ) Φ Ψ i (x) (Φ Φ Φ) Ψ j (y) (S Φ i ) 1 π ϕ ( x,y )S Φ j ϕ ij 1 ( x,y ). [Φ ](x),[φ [ϕ] Ψ Φ Φ](x) Ψ 1 ( x,x ) [ψ]( x,x ) [Ψ](x),[Ψ] (x), and [Ψ] [Φ Φ Ψ]. Assume that there exists another positive operator T S (π Φ (M) ) such that [Ψ] [Φ T S ]. Then [Φ Φ Ψ] [Φ T S ] and [ϕ 1 ] [ϕ T ]. Since the representations π Φ is nondegenerate we deduce 1 T and Φ Ψ T S. The operator Ψ Φ (πφ (M) ) is called the Radon Nikodym derivative of [Ψ] with respect to [Φ]. We notice that if Φ Ψ 1 2 is the Radon Nikodym derivative of [Ψ] with respect to [Φ], then 1 is the Radon Nikodym derivative of [ψ] with respect to [ϕ]. For [Φ] CP n (M, L(H,K)) let [Φ] : {[Ψ] CP n (M, L(H,K)) : [Ψ] [Φ]} Take [Ψ],[Φ] CP n (M, L(H,K)). We use the notation [Ψ] [Φ] when [Ψ] [Φ]. For [Φ] CP n (M, L(H,K)) consider the set and [0, [Φ]] : { [Ψ] : [Ψ] CP n (M, L(H,K)) : [Ψ] [Φ]} [0,I] Φ : {T N π Φ (M) : 0 T N I}. By Theorem 2.3 we deduce the existence of a map Υ : [0, [Φ]] [0,I] Φ such that [0, [Φ]] [Ψ] Υ( [Ψ]) Φ ([Ψ]) [0,I] Φ. (2.1) Theorem 2.4. Let [Φ] CP n (M, L(H,K)). Then the map Υ : [0, [Φ]] [0,I] Φ is order-preserving isomorphism.
9 RADON NIKODYM TYPE THEOREM 9 Proof. By Theorem 2.3, the map Υ : [0, [Φ]] [0,I] Φ is well defined. Let [Ψ 1 ],[Ψ 2 ] C n (M, L(H,K)) and [Ψ 1 ] [Ψ],[Ψ 2 ] [Ψ], Φ (Ψ 1 ) Φ (Ψ 2 ). Then, by ([6, Theorem 4.2.6], [Ψ 1 ] [Ψ 2 ]. Hence, [Ψ 1 ] [Ψ 2 ] and we prove that Υ is an injective map. On the other hand, take an arbitrary operator T N π Φ (M) such that 0 T N I. Utilizing Lemma 2.2 we have [Φ T N ] [Φ] and [Φ T N ] [Φ]. Hence, the map Υ is surjective. If [Ψ 1 ] [Ψ 2 ] [Φ], then [ψ 1 ] [ψ 2 ] [ϕ] and again by using [6, Theorem 4.2.6] we deduce that 1Φ (Ψ 1 ) 1Φ (Ψ 2 ). Since the representation π Φ (M) is nondegenerate and by employing [2, Lemma 4.3] we get Φ (Ψ 1 ) Φ (Ψ 2 ). If 0 T 1 N 1 T 2 N 2 ; T 1 N 1,T 2 N 2 π Φ (M), then 0 T 1 T 2 I, T 1,T 2 π ϕ (A). Hence, [ϕ T1 ] [ϕ T2 ] and therefore [Φ T1 N 1 ] [Φ T2 N 2 ]. Acknowledgement. A. Kusraev and M.
