1 Representations of Bihom-Lie algebras 1 Yongsheng Cheng 1,2, Huange Qi 1 1 School of Mathematics and Statistics, Henan University, Kaifeng , China 2 Institute of Contemporary Mathematics, Henan University, Kaifeng , China arxiv: v1 [math.rt] 14 Oct 2016 Abstract Bihom-Lie algebra is a generalized Hom-Lie algebra endowed with two commuting multiplicative linear maps. In this paper, we study cohomology and representations of Bihom-Lie algebras. In particular, derivations, central extensions, derivation extensions, the trivial representation and the adjoint representation of Bihom-Lie algebras are studied in detail. Keywords Bihom-Lie algebras; Derivations; Cohomology; Representations of Bihom-Lie algebras 1 Introduction The motivations to study Hom-Lie structures are related to physics and to deformations of Lie algebras, in particular Lie algebras of vector fields. Hom-Lie algebra, introduced by Hartig, Larson and Silvestrov in [7], is a triple L,[, ],α L consisting of a vector space L, a bilinear map [, ] : L L L and a vector space homomorphism α L : L L satisfying the following conditions [x,y] = [y,x], skew symmetry, [αx,[y,z]]+[αy,[z,x]]+[αz,[x,y]] = 0, Hom Jacobi identity for all x,y,z L. The main feature of these algebras is that the identities defining the structures are twisted by homomorphisms. The paradigmatic examples are q-deformations of Witt and Virasoro algebras, Heisenberg-Virasoro algebra and other algebraic structure constructed in pioneering works [4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14]. The representation theory of Hom- Lie algebras was introduced by Sheng in [12], in which, Hom-cochain complexes, derivation, central extension, derivation extension, trivial representation and adjoint representation of Hom-Lie algebras were studied. In addition, cohomology and deformations theory of Hom-algebras were studied in [1, 3, 8, 11, 13, 15]. In [6], the authors introduced a generalized algebraic structure endowed with two commuting multiplicative linear maps, called Bihom-algebras. When the two linear maps are same, then Bihom-algebras will be return to Hom-algebras. These algebraic structures include Bihom-associative algebras, Bihom-Lie algebras and Bihom-bialgebras. The purpose 1 Supported bythe NationalScienceFoundationofChinaNo andtheScienceandTechnology Program of Henan Province No
2 of this paper is to study cohomology, representations of Bihom-Lie algebras. In particular, the trivial representation and the adjoint representation of Bihom-Lie algebras are studied in detail. Derivations, central extensions and derivation extensions of Bihom-Lie algebras are also studied as an application. The paper is organized as follows. In Section 2 we give the definition, properties of Bihom-Lie algebras and a few examples of Bihom-Lie algebra. In Section 3 we study derivations, inner derivation and derivation extension of multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebras. In Section 4 we give representations of regular Bihom-Lie algebras, and give their cohomology. In Section 5 we study the trivial representations of regular Bihom-Lie algebras, and show that central extensions of a Bihom-Lie algebra are controlled by the second cohomology in the trivial representation. In Section 6 we study the adjoint representation of a regular Bihom-Lie algebra. We obtain that a 1-cocycle associated to the adjoint representation is a derivation for Bihom-Lie algebras. 2 Bihom-Lie algebras Our aim in this section is to introduce more general definition of Bihom-Lie algebras and properties from [6]. From now on, we will always work over a base field K. All algebras, linear spaces etc. will be over K. Definition A BiHom-associative algebra over k is a 4-tuple A,µ,α,β, where A is a k-linear space, α: A A, β: A A and µ: A A A are linear maps, with notation µa a = aa, satisfying the following conditions, for all a,a,a A: α β = β α, αaa a = aa βa BiHom-associativity. In particular, if αaa = αaαa and βaa = βaβa, we call it multiplicative Bihom-associative algebra. 2. A Bihom-Lie algebra over a field K is a 4-tuple L,[ ],α,β, where L is a K-linear space, α: L L, β: L L and [ ]: L L L are linear maps, with notation [ ]a a = [a,a ], satisfying the following conditions, for all a,a,a L: α β = β α, 2.1 [βa,αa ] = [βa,αa] skew-symmetry, 2.2 [ β 2 a,[βa,αa ] ] + [ β 2 a,[βa,αa] ] + [ β 2 a,[βa,αa ] ] = Bihom-Jacobi condition.
3 3. A Bihom-Lie algebra is called a multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra if α and β are algebraic morphisms, i.e. for any a,a L, we have α[a,a ] = [αa,αa ], β[a,a ] = [βa,βa ] A multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra is called a regular Bihom-Lie algebra if α, β are bijective maps. Remark 2.2. Obviously, a BiHom-Lie algebra L,[ ],α,β for which α = β is just a Hom-Lie algebra L,[ ], α. Similar with Lie algebras coming from associative algebras by commutator, Bihom-Lie algebras can also be obtained by Bihom-associative algebras. Unlike the Hom case, to obtain a Bihom-Lie algebra from a Bihom-associative algebra we need the maps α and β to be bijective. Next proposition comes from [6]. Proposition 2.3. If A,µ,α,β is a Bihom-associative algebra with bijective α and β, then, for every a,a A, we can set [a,a ] = aa α 1 βa αβ 1 a. Then A,[ ],α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra, denoted by LA. Example 2.4. We take an example of 2-dimensional Bihom-Lie algebra obtained from 2-dimensional Bihom-associative algebra. Let {e 1,e 2 } be a basis of associative algebra A. The linear maps α,β: A A and µ: A A A are defined by αe 1 = e 1, αe 2 = 1 m e 1 + n 1 n e 2, βe 1 = e 1, βe 2 = e 2, µe 1,e 1 = me 1, µe 1,e 2 = me 2, µe 2,e 1 = ne 1, µe 2,e 2 = ne 2, where m,n are parameters in K, with m,n 0 and n 1. Then we get A,µ,α,β is a 2-dimensional Bihom-associative algebra. In view of Proposition 2.3, we have [e 1,e 1 ] = 0, [e 1,e 2 ] = me 2 ne 1, [e 2,e 1 ] = n 1e 1 mn 1 e 2, [e 2,e 2 ] = n n m e 1 +e 2. Then A,[ ],α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra. Bihom-Lie algebras can also be induced by Lie algebras and their homomorphisms [6].
4 Proposition 2.5. Let L,[ ] be an ordinary Lie algebra over a field K and let α,β: L L two commuting linear maps such that α[a,a ] = [αa,αa ] and β[a,a ] = [βa,βa ], for all a,a L. Define the linear map { }: L L L, {a,b} = [αa,βb], for all a,b L. Then L α,β := L,{ },α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra, called the Yau twist of L,[ ]. Example 2.6. Let L = sl2,k, chark 2, whose standard basis consists of X = 01,Y = ,H = Then [H,X] = 2X, [H,Y] = 2Y, [X,Y] = H. Two linear maps α,β : L L are defined by αx = X, αy = k 2 X +Y +kh, αh = 2kX +H, βx = X, βy = l 2 X +Y +lh, βh = 2lX +H, where k,l are parameters in K. Obviously we have α β = β α. Then for X,Y,H L, we have α[x,y] = αh = 2kX +H, On the other hand, we have α[h,x] = α2x = 2X, α[h,y] = α 2Y = 2k 2 X 2Y 2kH. [αx,αy] = [X, k 2 X +Y +kh] = H 2kX, [αh,αx] = [ 2kX +H,X] = 2X, [αh,αy] = [ 2kX +H, k 2 X +Y +kh] = 2kH +2k 2 X 2Y. Therefore, for a,a L, we have α[a,a ] = [αa,αa ]. Similarly, we have β[a,a ] = [βa,βa ]. In view of Proposition 2.5, we define the linear map { }: L L L, {a,b} = [αa,βb], for all a,b L. Then L α,β := L,{ },α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra. Namely, sl2,k,{ },α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra.
5 Remark 2.7. We present an example of a Bihom-Lie algebra that cannot be expressed as a Hom-Lie algebra. By Example 2.6, L = sl2,k,{ },α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra. If we set αx = X, αy = k 2 X +Y +kh, αh = 2kX +H, βx = X, βy = Y, βh = H, where k are parameters in K, with k 0. For every a,b L we have { }a b = [αa,βb] = [αa,b]. Now we check that L,{ },α is not a Hom-Lie algebra. We only need to verify: { αx,{y,h} } + { αy,{h,x} } + { αh,{x,y} } = { αx,[αy,h] } + { αy,[αh,x] } + { αh,[αx,y] } = { X,[ k 2 X +Y +kh,h] } + { k 2 X +Y +kh,[ 2kX +H,X] } + { 2kX +H,[X,Y] } = { X,2k 2 X +2Y } + { k 2 X +Y +kh,2x } + { 2kX +H,H } =[αx,2k 2 X +2Y]+[α k 2 X +Y +kh,2x]+[α 2kX +H,H] =[X,2k 2 X +2Y]+[ 4k 2 X +Y +2kH,2X]+[ 4kX +H,H] =2H + 2H +8kX+8kX =16kX 0 since k 0. Thus, L,{ },α is not a Hom-Lie algebra even though L = sl2,k,{ },α,β is a Bihom-Lie algebra. Consider the direct sum of two Bihom-Lie algebras, we have Proposition 2.8. Given two Bihom-Lie algebras L,[ ],α,β and L,[ ],α,β, there is a Bihom-Lie algebra L L,[, ] L L,α+α,β +β, where the skew-symmetric bilinear map [, ] L L : 2 L L L L is given by [u 1,v 1,u 2,v 2 ] L L = [u 1,u 2 ],[v 1,v 2 ], u 1,u 2 L,v 1,v 2 L, and the linear maps α+α,β +β : L L L L are given by α+α u,v = αu,α v, β +β u,v = βu,β v, u L,v L. Proof. It is easy to verify Eq.2.1- Eq.2.3 for L L,[, ] L L,α+α,β +β.
6 Definition 2.9. A sub-vector space H L is a Bihom-Lie sub-algebra of L,[ ],α,β if αh H,βH H and H is closed under the bracket operation [ ], i.e. [u,u ] H, u,u H. A morphism f : L,[ ],α,β L,[ ],α,β of Bihom-Lie algebras is a linear map f : L L such that α f = f α, β f = f β and f[u,v] = [fu,fv], for all u,v L. Denote by φ f L L the graph of a linear map f : L L. Proposition A linear map f : L,[ ],α,β L,[ ],α,β is a morphism of Bihom-Lie algebras if and only if the graph φ f L L is a Bihom-Lie-sub-algebra of L L,[, ] L L,α+α,β +β. Proof. Let f : L,[ ],α,β L,[ ],α,β is a morphism of Bihom-Lie algebras, then for any u 1,u 2 L, we have [ u 1,fu 1, u 2,fu 2 ] L L = [u 1,u 2 ],[fu 1,fu 2 ] = [u 1,u 2 ],f[u 1,u 2 ] Thus the graph φ f is closed under the bracket operation [, ] L L. Furthermore, we have α+α u 1,fu 1 = αu 1,α fu 1 = αu 1,f αu 1 which implies that Similarly, α+α φ f φ f. β +β φ f φ f. Thus φ f is a Bihom-Lie-sub-algebra of L L,[, ] L L,α+α,β +β. Conversely, if the graph φ f is a Bihom-Lie-sub-algebra of L L,[, ] L L,α+α,β +β, then we have [ u 1,fu 1, u 2,fu 2 ] L L = [u 1,u 2 ],[fu 1,fu 2 ] φ f, which implies that [fu 1,fu 2 ] = f[u 1,u 2 ]. Furthermore, α+α φ f φ f yields that α+α u 1,fu 1 = αu 1,α fu 1 φ f, which is equivalent to the condition α fu 1 = f αu 1, i.e. α f = f α. Similarly, β f = f β. Therefore, f is a morphism of Bihom-Lie algebras.
7 3 Derivations of Bihom-Lie algebras In this section, we will study derivations of Bihom-Lie algebras. Let L,[ ],α,β be a regular Bihom-Lie algebra. For any integer k,l, denote by α k the k-times composition of α and β l the l-times composition of β, i.e. α k = α αk times,β l = β βl times. Since the maps α,β commute, we denote by α k β l = α α }{{} β β. }{{} k times l times In particular, α 0 β 0 = Id,α 1 β 1 = αβ, α k β l is the inverse of α k β l. Definition 3.1. For any integer k,l, a linear map D : L L is called an α k β l -derivation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[ ],α,β, if D α = α D, D β = β D, 3.1 and D[u,v] = [Du,α k β l v]+[α k β l u,dv], u,v L. 3.2 Note first that if α and β are bijective, the skew-symmetry condition Eq.2.2 implies [u,v] = [α 1 βv,αβ 1 u]. 3.3 Denote by Der α k β ll the set of αk β l -derivations of the Bihom-Lie algebra L,[ ],α,β. For any u L satisfying αu = u,βu = u, define D k,l u gll by By Eq.3.3, D k,l uv = [α k β l v,u], v L. D k,l uv= [α k β l v,u] =[α 1 βu,α k+1 β l 1 v] =[u,α k+1 β l 1 v]. Then D k,l u is an α k+1 β l -derivation, which we call an inner α k+1 β l -derivation. In fact, we have D k,l uαv = [α k+1 β l v,u] = α[α k β l v,u] = α D k,l uv, D k,l uβv [α k β l+1 v,u] = β[α k β l v,u] = β D k,l uv,
8 which implies that Eq.3.1 in Definition 3.1 is satisfied. On the other hand, we have D k,l u[v,w]= [ α k β l [v,w],u ] = [ u,α k+1 β l 1 [v,w] ] = [ β 2 u,[βα k+1 β l 2 v,αα k β l 1 w] ] = [ α k+1 β l v,[α k β l w,αu] ] [ α k β l+1 w,[βu,α k+2 β l 2 v] ] = [ α k+1 β l v,[α k β l w,u] ] + [ [u,α k+1 β l 1 v],α k+1 β l w ] =[α k+1 β l v,d k,l uw]+[d k,l uv,α k+1 β l w]. Therefore, D k,l u is an α k+1 β l -derivation. Denote by Inn α k βll the set of inner α k β l -derivations, i.e. Inn α k β ll = { [αk 1 β l,u] u L,αu = u,βu = u}. usual: For any D Der α k β ll and D Der α s β tl, define their commutator [D,D ] as [D,D ] = D D D D. 3.4 Lemma 3.2. For any D Der α k β ll and D Der α s βtl, we have Proof. For any u,v L, we have [D,D ] Der α k+s β l+tl. [D,D ][u,v]=d D [u,v] D D[u,v] =D[D u,α s β t v]+[α s β t u,d v] D [Du,α k β l v]+[α s β t u,dv] =[D D u,α k β l α s β t v]+[α k β l D u,d α s β t v ] Since any two of maps D,D,α,β commute, we have Therefore,we have +[D α s β t u,α k β l D v]+[α k β l α s β t u,d D v] [D Du,α s β t α k β l v] [α s β t Du,D α k β l v ] [D α k β l u,α s β t Dv] [α s β t α k β l u,d Dv] β l D = D β l,α k D = D α k,β t D = D β t,α s D = D α s [D,D ][u,v] = [ [D,D ]u,α k+s β l+t v ] + [ α k+s β l+t u,[d,d ]v ].
9 Furthermore, it is straightforward to see that [D,D ] α = D D α D D α = α D D α D D = α [D,D ], [D,D ] β = D D β D D β = β D D β D D = β [D,D ], which yields that [D,D ] Der α k+s β l+tl. For any integer k,l, denote by DerL = k,l Der α k βll. Obviously, DerL is a Lie algebra, in which the Lie bracket is given by Eq.3.4. In the end, we consider the derivation extension of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[ ],α,β and give an application of the α 0 β 1 -derivation Der α 0 β 1L. For any linear maps D,α,β : L L, where α and β are inverse, consider the vector space L RD. Define a skew-symmetric bilinear bracket operation [, ] D on L RD by [u,v] D = [u,v], [D,u] D = [α 1 βu,αβ 1 D] D = Du, u,v L. Define two linear maps α D,β D : L RD L RD by α D u,d = αu,d, β D u,d = βu,d. And the linear maps α,β involved in the definition of the bracket operation [, ] D are required to be multiplicative, that is Then, we have α [D,u] D= = [α D,αu] D, β [D,u] D = [β D,βu] D. [u,d] D = [α 1 βd,αβ 1 u] D = α 1 β [D,α 2 β 2 u] D = α 1 β D α 2 β 2 u = αβ 1 Du. Theorem 3.3. With the above notations, L RD,[, ] D,α D,β D is a Bihom-Lie algebra if and only if D is an α 0 β 1 -derivation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β. Proof. For any u,v L,m,n R, we have α D β D u,md = α D βu,md = α βu,md, and β D α D u,md = β D αu,md = β αu,md.
10 Hence, we have On the other hand, α β = β α α D β D = β D α D. α D [u,md,v,nd] D =α D [u,v] D +[u,nd] D +[md,v] D =α D [u,v] nd αβ 1 u+mdv =α[u,v] nα D αβ 1 u+mα Dv, [α D u,md,α D v,nd] D =[αu,md,αv,nd] D =[αu,αv] D +[αu,nd] D +[md,αv] D =[αu,αv] αβ 1 nd αu+md αv. Since α[u,v] = [αu,αv], thus α D [u,md,v,nd] D = [α D u,md,α D v,nd] D if and only if Similarly, D α = α D,D β = β D. β D [u,md,v,nd] D = [β D u,md,β D v,nd] D if and only if Next, we have D α = α D,D β = β D. [β D u,md,α D v,nd] D =[βu,md,αv,nd] D =[βu,αv] D +[βu,nd] D +[md,αv] D = [βv,αu] αβ 1 nd βu+md αv, [β D v,nd,α D u,md] D =[βv,nd,αu,md] D =[βv,αu] D +[βv,md] D +[nd,αu] D =[βv,αu] αβ 1 md βv+nd αu, thus if and only if [β D u,md,α D v,nd] D = [β D v,nd,α D u,md] D D α = α D,D β = β D.
11 Furthermore, [ β 2 D u,md,[β D v,nd,α D w,ld] D ]D +[ ] βdv,nd,[β 2 D w,ld,α D w,md] D + [ β 2 Dw,lD,[β D u,md,α D v,nd] D ]D D = [ β 2 u,md,[βv,nd,αw,ld] D ]D + [ β 2 v,nd,[βw,ld,αu,md] D ]D + [ β 2 w,ld,[βu,md,αv,nd] D ]D = [ β 2 u,md,[βv,αw] lα Dv+nD αw ] D + [ β 2 v,nd,[βw,αu] mα Dw+lD αu ] D + [ β 2 w,ld,[βu,αv] nα Du+mD αv ] D = [ β 2 u,[βv,αw] ] [β 2 u,lα Dv]+[β 2 u,nd αw] + [ md,[βv,αw] ] [md,lα Dv] D D +[md,ndαw] D + [ β 2 v,[βw,αu] ] [β 2 v,mα Dw]+[β 2 v,ld αu] + [ nd,[βw,αu] ] [nd,mα Dw] D D +[nd,ldαu] D + [ β 2 w,[βu,αv] ] [β 2 w,nα Du]+[β 2 w,md αv] + [ ld,[βu,αv] ] [ld,nα Du] D D +[ld,mdαv] D = [ β 2 u,[βv,αw] ] [β 2 u,lα Dv]+[β 2 u,nd αw] + [ md,[βv,αw] ] D mlα D2 v+mnd 2 αw + [ β 2 v,[βw,αu] ] [β 2 v,mα Dw]+[β 2 v,ld αu] + [ nd,[βw,αu] ] D mnα D2 w+nld 2 αu + [ β 2 w,[βu,αv] ] [β 2 w,nα Du]+[β 2 w,md αv] + [ ld,[βu,αv] ] D lnα D2 u+lmd 2 αv, If D is an α 0 β 1 -derivation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β, then [ ] md,[βv,αw] =md[βv,αw] D =[md βv,α 0 βαw]+[α 0 β 2 v,md αw] = [α 0 β 2 w,md αv]+[α 0 β 2 v,md αw] = [β 2 w,md αv]+[β 2 v,md αw]. Similarly, [ nd,[βw,αu] ] D = [β2 u,nd αw]+[β 2 w,nα Du],
[ ld,[βu,αv] ] D = [β2 v,ld αu]+[β 2 u,lα Dv]. Therefore, the Bihom-Jacobi identity is satisfied if and only if D is an α 0 β 1 -derivation of L,[, ],α,β. Thus L RD,[, ] D,α D,β D is a Bihom-Lie algebra if and only if D is an α 0 β 1 -derivation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β Representations of Bihom-Lie algebras Lie algebra cohomology was introduced by Chevalley and Eilenberg [2]. For Hom-Lie algebra, the cohomology theory has been given by [11, 12, 15]. In this section we study representations of Bihom-Lie algebras and give the corresponding coboundary operators. We can also construct the semidirect product of Bihom-Lie algebras. Definition 4.1. Let L,[, ],α,β be a Bihom-Lie algebra. A representation of L is a 4-tuple M,ρ,α M,β M, where M is a linear space, α M,β M : M M are two commuting linear maps and ρ : L EndM is a linear map such that, for all x,y L, we have ρ αx α M = α M ρx, 4.1 ρ βx β M = β M ρx, 4.2 ρ[βx,y] β M = ρ αβx ρy ρ βy ρ αx. 4.3 Let L,[ ],α,β be a regular Bihom-Lie algebra. The set of k-cochains on L with values in M, which we denote by C k L;M, is the set of skew-symmetric k-linear maps form L Lk times to M: C k L;M {f : k L M is a linear map}. A k-bihom cochain on L with values in M is defined to be a k-cochain f C k L;M such that it is compatible with α,β and α M,β M in the sense that α M f = f α, β M f = f β, i.e. α M fu1,,u k = f αu 1,,αu k, β M fu1,,u k = f βu 1,,βu k. Denote by Cα,α k M L;M {f C k L;M α M f = f α,β M f = f β}. β,β M Define d ρ : Cα,α k M L;M C k+1 L;M by setting β,β M k+1 d ρ fu 1,,u k+1 = 1 i ρ αβ k 1 u i fu 1,,û i,,u k+1 i=1 + 1 i+j+1 f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k+1. i<j
13 Lemma 4.2. With the above notations, for any f Cα,α k M L;M, we have β,β M Thus we obtain a well-defined map d ρ : C k α,α M β,β M d ρ f α = α M d ρ f, d ρ f β = β M d ρ f. The proof is completed. Proposition 4.3. The map d ρ is a coboundary operator, i.e. d 2 ρ = 0. Proof. For any f Cα,α k M β,β M computations, we have L;M, we have d 2 ρf C k+2 α,α M β,β M L; M. By straightforward d 2 ρfu 1,,u k+2 k+2 = 1 i ρ αβ k u i d ρ fu 1,,û i,,u k+2 i=1 + 1 i+j+1 d ρ f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k+2. i<j
15 It is not hard to deduce that ρ αβ k u i d ρ fu 1,,û i,,u k+2 i 1 = 1 p ρ αβ k u i ρ αβ k 1 u p u 1,,û p,,û i,,u k p=1 + k+2 p=i+1 1 p 1 ρ αβ k u i ρ αβ k 1 u p u 1,,û i,,û p,,u k p+q+1 ρ αβ k u i i<p<q f [α 1 βu p,u q ],βu 1,,û i,,û p,,û q,,βu k p+q+1 ρ αβ k u i p<q<i f [α 1 βu p,u q ],βu 1,,û p,,û q,,û i,,βu k p+q ρ αβ k u i p<i<q f [α 1 βu p,u q ],βu 1,,û p,,û i,,û q,,βu k+2,
16 and d ρ f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k+2 = ρ αβ k 1 [α 1 βu i,u j ] f βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k i p+1 ρ αβ k u p f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û p,,û i,,û j,,βu k+2 + p=1 j 1 p=i+1 1 p ρ αβ k u p f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û p,,û j,,βu k+2 k p 1 ρ αβ k u p f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û j,,û p,,βu k+2 j+1 i p+1 f [ [α 2 β 2 u i,α 1 βu j ],βu p ],β 2 u 1,,û p,,û i,,û j,,β 2 u k p=1 j 1 p=i+1 k+2 p=j+1 + p,q 1 p f [ [α 2 β 2 u i,α 1 βu j ],βu p ],β 2 u 1,,û i,,û p,,û j,,β 2 u k p 1 f [ [α 2 β 2 u i,α 1 βu j ],βu p ],β 2 u 1,,û i,,û j,,û p,,β 2 u k ±f[α 1 ββu p,βu q ],β[α 1 βu i,u j ],β 2 u 1,,û i,j,p,q,,β 2 u k In 4.10, û i,j,p,q means that we omit the items u i,u j,u p,u q. By the fact that [α 1 ββu p,βu q ] = β[α 1 βu p,u q ], we get 1 i+j = 0. i<j By the Bihom-Jacobi identity, [ β 2 a,[βa,αa ] ] = [ β 2 a,α[α 1 βa,a ] ] = [ β[α 1 βa,a ],αβa ] = [ [α 1 β 2 a,βa ],αβa ] = [ [α 1 β 2 a,βa ],αβa ],
17 thus [ β 2 a,[βa,αa ] ] + [ β 2 a,[βa,αa] ] + [ β 2 a,[βa,αa ] ] = 0 is equivalent to [ [α 2 β 2 a,α 1 βa ],βa ] + [ [α 2 β 2 a,α 1 βa],βa ] + [ [α 2 β 2 a,α 1 βa ],βa ] = 0. We get that 1 i+j = 0. i<j At last, we have that 4.6= ρ [β k u i,αβ k 1 u j ] f βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k+2 = ρ [β k u i,αβ k 1 u j ] β M fu 1,,û i,,û j,,u k+2 = [ ρ αβ k u i ρ αβ k 1 u j ρ αβ k u j ρ αβ k 1 u i ] fu 1,,û i,,û j,,u k+2. Thus we have k+2 i=1 1 i i<j 1 i+j = 0. The sum of the other six items is zero. Therefore, we have d 2 ρ = 0. The proof is completed. Associated to the representation ρ, we obtain the complex Cα,α k M L;M,d ρ. β,β M Denote the set of closed k-bihom-cochains by Zα,β k L;ρ and the set of exact k-bihom-cochains by Bα,β k L;ρ. Denote the corresponding cohomology by H k α,βl;ρ = Z k α,βl;ρ/b k α,βl;ρ, where Zα,βL;ρ k = {f Cα,α k M L;M : d ρ f = 0}, β,β M B k α,β L;ρ = {d ρf : f C k 1 α,α M β,β M L;M}. In the case of Lie algebras, we can form semidirect products when given representations. Similarly, we have
18 Proposition 4.4. Let L,[, ],α,β be a Bihom-Lie algebra and M,ρ,α M,β M a representation of L. Assume that the maps α and β M are bijective. Then L M := L M,[, ],α α M,β β M is a Bihom-Lie algebra, where α α M,β β M : L M L M are defined by α α M x,a = αx,α M a and β β M x,a = βx,β M a, and, for all x,y L and a,b M, the bracket [, ] is defined by [x,a,y,b] = [x,y], ρxb ρ α 1 βy α M β 1 M a. The proof is straightforward from the definition of the Bihom-Lie algebra, we are no longer a detailed proof. 5 The Trivial Representations of Bihom-Lie Algebras In this section, we study the trivial representation of regular Bihom-Lie algebras. Now let M = R, then we have EndM = R. Any α M,β M EndM is just a real number, which we denote by r 1,r 2 respectively. Let ρ : L EndM = R be the zero map. Obviously, ρ is a representation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β with respect to any r 1,r 2 R. We will always assume that r 1 = r 2 = 1. We call this representation the trivial representation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ], α, β. Associated to the trivial representation, the set of k-cochains on L, which we denote by C k L, is the set of skew-symmetric k-linear maps from L L k-times to R, namely, C k L {f : k L R is a linear map}. i.e.c k L = k L. The set of k-bihom-cochains is given by C k α,β L = {f k L f α = f,f β = f}. The corresponding coboundary operator d T : C k α,β d T fu 1,,u k+1 = i<j L Ck+1 α,β L is given by 1 i+j+1 f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k+1. Denote by Zα,β k L and Bk α,β L the corresponding closed k-bihom-cochains and exact k-bihom-cochains respectively. Denote the resulting cohomology by Hα,β k L. Namely, Z k α,β L = {f Ck α,β L : d Tf = 0}, B k α,β L = {d Tf : f C k 1 α,β L}, H k α,β L = Zk α,β L/Bk α,β L.
19 Proposition 5.1. With the above notations, associated to the trivial representation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β, we have Hα,β 0 L = R, H 1 α,β L = {f C1 α,β L f [βu,αv] = 0, u,v L}. Proof. Obviously, any s R is a 0-Bihom-cochain. By the definition of coboundary operator d T, we have d T s = 0. Thus we have Hα,β 0 L = R. For any f C1 α,β L, we have d T fu,v = f [α 1 βu,v] = f α [α 1 βu,v] = f [βu,αv]. Therefore, f is closed if and only if f [βu,αv] = 0, u,v L. The conclusion follows from the fact that there is no exact 1-Bihom-cochain. i.e.bα,β 1 L = 0. Thus we have H 1 α,β L = {f C1 α,β L f [βu,αv] = 0, u,v L}. In the following we consider central extensions of the multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β. Obviously, R,0,1,1 is a multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra with the trivial bracket and the identity morphism. Let θ Cα,β 2 L, we have θ α = θ and θ β = θ. We consider the direct sum g = L R with the following bracket [u,s,v,t] θ = [u,v],θαβ 1 u,v, u,v L,s,t R. Define α g,β g : g g by α g u,s = αu,s,β g u,s = βu,s. Theorem 5.2. With the above notations, g,[, ] θ,α g,β g is a multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra if and only if θ Cα,β 2 L is a 2-cocycle associated to the trivial representation, i.e. d T θ = 0. Proof. Obviously, since α β = β α, we have α g β g = β g α g. Then we show that α g is an algebra morphism with the respect to the bracket [, ] θ. On one hand, we have α g [u,s,v,t] θ = α g [u,v],θαβ 1 u,v = α[u,v],θαβ 1 u,v. On the other hand, we have [α g u,s,α g v,t] θ = [ αu,s, αv,t ] θ = [αu,αv],θ αβ 1 αu,αv. Since α is an algebra morphism and θ αβ 1 αu,αv = θαβ 1 u,v, we deduce that α g is an algebra morphism. Similarly, we have β g is also an algebra morphism.
20 Furthermore, we have and [β g u,s,α g v,t] θ =[ βu,s, αv,t ] θ = [βu,αv],θ αβ 1 βu,αv = [βu,αv],θ αu,αv = [βu,αv],θu,v [β g v,t,α g u,s] θ =[ βv,t, αu,s ] θ = [βv,αu],θ αβ 1 βv,αu = [βv,αu],θ αv,αu = [βv,αu],θv,u. By 2.2, since θ is a skew-symmetric 2-linear map, we obtain that [β g u,s,α g v,t] θ = [β g v,t,α g u,s] θ. By direct computations, on the hand,we have [ β 2 g u,s,[β g v,t,α g w,m] θ ]θ +c.p. u,s,v,t,w,m = [ β 2 u,s,[ βv,t, αw,m ] ] θ +c.p. u,s,v,t,w,m θ [ β = 2 u,s, [βv,αw],θ αv,αw ] +c.p. u,s,v,t,w,m θ = [ β 2 u,[βv,αw] ] +c.p.u,v,w+θ αβu,[βv,αw] +c.p.u,v,w. Thus by the Bihom-Jacobi identity of L, [, ] θ satisfies the Bihom-Jacobi identity if and only if Namely, θ αβu,[βv,αw] +θ αβv,[βw,αu] +θ αβw,[βu,αv] = 0. θ βu,[α 1 βv,w] +θ βv,[α 1 βw,u] +θ βw,[α 1 βu,v] = 0. On the other hand, d T θu,v,w =θ [α 1 βu,v],βw θ [α 1 βu,w],βv +θ [α 1 βv,w],βu = θ βw,[α 1 βu,v] θ βv,[α 1 βw,u] θ βu,[α 1 βv,w]
21 Therefore, g,[, ] θ,α g,β g is a multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra if and only if θ C 2 α,β L is a 2-cocycle associated to the trivial representation, i.e. d T θ = 0. We call the multiplicative Bihom-Lie algebra g,[, ] θ,α g,β g the central extension of L,[, ],α,β by the abelian Bihom-Lie algebra R,0,1,1. Proposition 5.3. For θ 1,θ 2 Z 2 L, if θ 1 θ 2 is a exact, the corresponding two central extensions g,[, ] θ1,α g,β g and g,[, ] θ2,α g,β g are isomorphic. Proof. Assume that θ 1 θ 2 = d T f, f Cα,β 1 L. Thus we have θ 1 αβ 1 u,v θ 2 αβ 1 u,v =d T f αβ 1 u,v =f [α 1 β αβ 1 u,v] =f[u,v]. Define ϕ g : g g by ϕ g u,s = u,s fu. Obviously, ϕ g is an isomorphism of vector spaces. The fact that ϕ g is a morphism of the Bihom-Lie algebra follows from the fact θ α = θ,θ β = θ. More precisely, we have ϕ g α g u,s = ϕ g αu,s = αu,s f αu = αu,s fu. On the other hand, we have α g ϕ g u,s = α g u,s fu = αu,s fu. Thus, we obtain that ϕ g α g = α g ϕ g. Similarly, we have ϕ g β g = β g ϕ g. We also have ϕ g [u,s,v,t] θ1 =ϕ g [u,v],θ 1 αβ 1 u,v = [u,v],θ 1 αβ 1 u,v f[u,v] = [u,v],θ 2 αβ 1 u,v =[ϕ g u,s,ϕ g v,t] θ2. Therefore, ϕ g is also an isomorphism of Bihom-Lie algebras.
22 6 The Adjoint Representations of Bihom-Lie Algebras Let L,[, ],α,β be a regular Bihom-Lie algebra. We consider that L represents on itself via the bracket with respect to the morphisms α,β. Definition 6.1. For any integer s,t, the α s β t -adjoint representation of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β, which we denote by ad s,t, is defined by ad s,t uv = [α s β t u,v], u,v L. Lemma 6.2. With the above notations, we have ad s,t αu α = α ads,t u; ad s,t βu β = β ads,t u; ad s,t [βu,v] β = ads,t αβu ads,t v ad s,t βv ads,t αu. Thus the definition of α s β t -adjoint representation is well defined. Proof. For any u,v,w L, first we show that ad s,t αu α = α ads,t u. ad s,t αu αv=[α s β t αu,αv] =α [α s β t u,v] = α ad s,t uv. Similarly, we have ad s,t βu βv = β ads,t uv. Note that the skew-symmetry condition implies ad s,t uv = [α s β t u,v] = [α 1 βv,α s+1 β t 1 u], u,v L. On one hand, we have ads,t [βu,v] β w=ad s,t [βu,v] βw = [ α 1 β 2 w,α s+1 β t 1 [βu,v] ] = [ α 1 β 2 w,[α s+1 β t u,α s+1 β t 1 v] ].
23 On the other hand, we have ads,t αβu ad s,t v w ad s,t βv ad s,t αu w = ad s,t αβu [α 1 βw,α s+1 β t 1 v] = = ad s,t βv [α 1 βw,α s+2 β t 1 u] [ α 1 β[α 1 βw,α s+1 β t 1 v], α s+1 β t 1 αβu ] [ α 1 β[α 1 βw,α s+2 β t 1 u], α s+1 β t 1 βv ] [ β[α 2 βw,α s β t 1 v], α s+2 β t u ] [ β[α 2 βw,α s+1 β t 1 u], α s+1 β t v ] skew-symmetry = [ βα s+1 β t u, α[α 2 βw,α s β t 1 v] ] + [ βα s β t v, α[α 2 βw,α s+1 β t 1 u] ] = [ α s+1 β t+1 u, [α 1 βw,α s+1 β t 1 v] ] = = + [ α s β t+1 v, [α 1 βw,α s+2 β t 1 u] ] [ α s+1 β t+1 u, [α s β t v,w] ] + [ α s β t+1 v, [α 1 βw,α s+2 β t 1 u] ] [ β 2 α s+1 β t 1 u, [β α s β t 1 v,α α 1 w ] ] + [ β 2 α s β t 1 v, [β α 1 w,α α s+1 β t 1 u ] ] = [ β 2 α 1 w, [β α s+1 β t 1 u,α α s β t 1 v ] ] = [ α 1 β 2 w, [α s+1 β t u,α s+1 β t 1 v] ]. Thus, the definition of α s β t -adjoint representation is well defined. The proof is completed. The set of k-bihom-cochains on L with coefficients in L, which we denote by Cα,β k L;L, are given by C k α,β L;L = {f Ck L;L f α = α f,f β = β f}. The set of 0-Bihom-cochains are given by: C 0 α,βl;l = {u L αu = u,βu = u}. Associated to the α s β t -adjoint representation, the coboundary operator
24 d s,t : C k α,β L;L Ck+1 α,β L;L is given by d s,t fu 1,,u k+1 k+1 = 1 i [α s+1 β t+k 1 u i,fu 1,,û i,,u k+1 ] i=1 + i<j 1 i+j+1 f [α 1 βu i,u j ],βu 1,,û i,,û j,,βu k+1. For the α s β t -adjoint representation ad s,t, we obtain the α s β t -adjoint complex C k α,β L;L,d s,t and the corresponding cohomology H k L;ad s,t = Z k L;ad s,t /B k L;ad s,t. We have known that a 1-cocycle associated to the adjoint representation is a derivation for Lie algebras and Hom-Lie algebras. Similarly, we have Proposition 6.3. Associated to the α s β t -adjoint representation ad s,t of the regular Bihom-Lie algebra L,[, ],α,β, D Cα,β 1 L;L is a 1-cocycle if and only if D is an α s+2 β t 1 -derivation, i.e. D Der α s+2 β t 1L. Proof. The conclusion follows directly from the definition of the coboundary operator d s,t. D is closed if and only if d s,t Du,v = [α s+1 β t u,dv]+[α s+1 β t v,du]+d[α 1 βu,v] = 0. D is an α s+2 β t 1 -derivation if and only if D[α 1 βu,v]=[α s+2 β t 1 α 1 βu,dv]+[α 1 β Du,α s+2 β t 1 v] =[α s+1 β t u,dv] [α s+1 β t v,du]. So D C 1 α,β L;L is a 1-cocycle if and only if D is an αs+2 β t 1 -derivation. Proposition 6.4. For any integer s,t, Associated to the α s β t -adjoint representation ad s,t, we have H 0 L;ad s,t = {u L αu = u,βu = u,[u,v] = 0, v L}; H 1 L;ad s,t = Der α s+2 β t 1L/Inn α s+2 β t 1L. Proof. For any 0-Bihom-cochain u Cα,β 0 L;L, we have d s,t uv = [α s+1 β t 1 v,u] = [α 1 βu,α s+2 β t 2 v], v L.
25 Therefore, u is a closed 0-Bihom-cochain if and only if which is equivalent to [α 1 βu,α s+2 β t 2 v] = 0, α s 2 β t+2 [α 1 βu,α s+2 β t 2 v] = [u,v] = 0. Therefore, the set of closed 0-Bihom-cochain Z 0 L;ad s,t is given by Z 0 L;ad s,t = {u Cα,β 0 L;L [u,v] = 0, v L}. Obviously, B 0 L;ad s,t = 0. Thus we have H 0 L;ad s,t = {u L αu = u,βu = u,[u,v] = 0, v L}. By Proposition 6.3, we have Z 1 L;ad s,t = Der α s+2 βt 1L. Furthermore, it is obvious that any exact 1-Bihom-cochain is of the form [α s+1 β t 1,u] for some u C 0 α,β L;L. Therefore, we have B 1 L;ad s,t = Inn α s+2 βt 1L, which implies that H 1 L;ad s,t = Der α s+2 β t 1L/Inn α s+2 β t 1L. References 1.
