Its pure cu ltu re has been iden tified th rough mo rpho logical, cu ltu ral, physio logical, b iochem ical characteristics, and G + C mo l% value tests. Strain R x is Gram negative, ( ) Λm ( ) Λm in size, single pop lar flag2 ellum. Its in tra2cytop lasm ic m em b ranes are of vesicu lar type, and mode of rep roduction is division. A pure cu ltu re of strain R x con tain s bacterioch lo rophy a, and its caro teno ids are of sphaero idines type. It can grow either aerob ically in the dark o r anaerob ically in the ligh ṫ T he range of salin ity and that of ph value fo r its grow th are ggkg and respectively. It can no t u se su lfide as electron dono r and its grow th is inh ib ited by h igher concen tration of su lfide. It can u se Glu tam ine as its o rgan ic carbon sou rces bu t no t C itrate and T artrate. It needs t, b, p 2ABA and n as its grow th facto rṡ Its DNA G+ C mo l% is %. Based on the above b io logical characteristics, and acco rding to the M anual of D eterm inative Bacterio logy (first edition, 2002) and Bergerπs M anual of System atic Bacterio logy vo lum e 3 (1989), strain R x is iden ti2 fied as R hod ovu lum eu ry ha linum.
